Has there ever been a daily soap that aired in first run syndication?

Yes. Rituals in 1984-85. There are at least two promos that are on YouTube (and I think there might be at least 1 episode posted there as well)....

Oh, I almost forgot....Swans Crossing, in 1992 (with a young Sarah Michelle Gellar, pre-All My Children & Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, among others, as the lead). This show was targeted toward teens, and aired mostly on the Tribune stations, if I'm not mistaken. Shout! Factory TV has all the episodes available for streaming on its website....

WNYW starts at 4:30.

Me bad.  When I checked the Optimum guide yesterday I thought it said 5 am.  Today it says 4:30 am.  Still, News4NY is the only local news at 4 am.

As someone that thoroughly enjoyed The Chew, the last months after Mario Batali's firing were rough. The show would've needed a little retooling and additional co-hosts.

Hmm. I don't think that was the case. Ben Sherwood was eager to be like NBC to get some XTRA money.  The Chew's ratings were better than Sara & Strahan.

After Alex Trebek announced he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, longtime/former WRC morning anchor Joe Krebs announced he is battling it as well.  His former co-anchor Barbara Harrison interviewed him.

Add KPIX & KBCW. It’s still in the safe zone

KPIX and KBCW finally moved their bug out of the safe zone. You would think their LIVE Bug would have been moved too. Nope. Looks a bit odd now with a stretched out Lower a third.

makes me wonder tomorrow how or where they will put the placement of the Stock Board on the noon newscasts or Doppler Radar during stormy weather since it was outside the safezone

They stretched the lower thirds to where the bug is? WJZ has the live bug in the existing position aligned with where the text part of the Chyron starts.

They could easily put the stock board or the radar in the area where topical graphics go on the left.

Watching KPIX now and they moved the active text area to the bug. Just doing a lookaround it appears of the news producing stations WCBS, KCBS, WBBM, KYW, KPIX, WBZ, WFOR and KDKA all made the switch. While KTVT, WCCO, KCNC and WJZ (of course)  where the bar and text area is still 4:3 safe.

The only part they goofed up is the AMS seal during the weather report. It still ends at the old part before the extension lol.

true on the left. However KPIX does use a lot of GFX on the left like “New at 11:00, STORM WATCH, and other Story Clip Art shared with the O&O’s when needed if it’s not the half CBS Eye.

Remember I've mentioned that ABC might considering bringing AMC and OLTL back from the dead, well 90% of soap fans agree to it.

https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/all-my-children-one-life-to-live-revival-abc-poll-results-news/

If ABC winds up canceling GMA Day Strahan & Sara (what are their ratings like?) and does announces a comeback for the cancelled soaps, they can only bring back one or the other, since they gave 3pm back to the affiliates back in 2012 after OLTL's replacement The Revolution, bombed. And don't expect them to cancel the View too, that show just got it's second wind by becoming another anti-Trump outlet.

My money is on the older All My Children getting the reboot, but who knows?

Entering Spectulatron territory here, but - they could also make them both a half hour a la Bold and the Beautiful on CBS. Or be truly unconventional (and old fashioned) and divide the two hours into three 40-minute shows.  Since they all function in the same “world” - it could open the door for some fun crossover and hook fans in to the whole lineup.  (Because I’d assume they’d film in LA like GH and AMC towards the end of its run.).

Best guess is that they end up on a Disney-owned streaming platform.

Three recent departure announcements in Dallas-Fort Worth:

* Lexie Houghtaling, a KXAS reporter, is leaving after 2 years.

MaryAnn Martinez, a KTVT reporter, is leaving after less than 2 years.

Edward Egros, sports reporter/anchor at KDFW, is leaving after 5 1/2 years.

None of the reports reveal where any of the talent is going, to another station or to do something else.

Talk shows are cheap, much cheaper than a mon-fri. If any soap returns it would be on a weekly or twice weekly basis and most likely stream oriented.

The most likely scenarios would be either a hard or soft reboot so the PP era can be forgotten about. The one thing going for the shows is brand/ip familiarity.

She only lasted 11 months...

And why is Lisa Remillard still sitting on the beach ?

https://www.kusi.com/kusi-tv-on-lisa-remillards-new-position-with-soccercity/

Not a good year for USC Trojans at KUSI.

Dani went silent 2 weeks ago, and judging by KUSI standards it must have been really , really bad to keep it sooooo quiet.

It might be an "A-P-R" situation:

"Attitude"...

"Porn"...

or "Rehab".

WALA has tweaked their morning newscasts....

The 4:30-7am portion still remains as Fox 10 News with longtime anchors Eric Reynolds & Sarah Wall, but now, the 7-9am portion is now "Good Day Gulf Coast" with Studio 10 co-host Joe Emer adding anchor duties alongside Sarah Wall.

I haven't seen too much of a shift of content (like other Fox "Good Day" shows) since the WALA morning news has been very news-intensive, but that could change.  Studio 10 is the lifestyle pay-for-play show where all of the "filler" has gone....
