WUAB is planning 50th anniversary special on Monday night during its 10pm hour. It'll be a reunion of its 1990s news team followed by half-hour retrospective of the station's history.

Given how much WUAB has been treated as a doormat under Raycom, this is a very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect any acknowledgement of their 50th anniversary.

Of course Ramona Robinson returned to 19/43 in 2012, Jack Marshall retired not long ago after a stint at WEWS, Sally Bernier does holiday relief duties at WJW alongside her husband Andre, Jeff Phelps is at WKRK 92.3 The Fan and Fox Sports Ohio, Ron Jantz left the business to work and teach at Lorain County Community College, Dan Deely is at WNWV The Wave, and RIP Gib Shanley.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran down a lengthy list of people joining the Milwaukee news market:

- Lane Kimble joins CBS affiliate WDJT as a reporter, previously from WJFW-TV Rhinelander, WI.

- Bill Walsh joins WDJT as reporter/fill-in anchor, previously from WMEN-TV in Saginaw, MI.

- Trey Daerr joins ABC affiliate WISN as sports anchor/reporter, previously from KNWA/KARK-TV in Fayetville, AR.

- Toni Valliere joins WISN as anchor, previously from KSN-TV in Joplin, MO.

- Chris Gloninger joins WISN as meteorologist/reporter, previously from WRGB-TV in Albany, NY.

- Bret Lemoine joins FOX affiliate WITI as anchor, previously from WFRV-TV in Green Bay, WI.

- Krystle Kacner joins WITI as reporter/video journalist/web contributor, previously from WHO-TV in Des Moines, OH.

- Yona Gavino joins NBC affiliate WTMJ as reporter, previously from WLUC-TV in Marquette, MI

- Shannon Sims joins WTMJ as reporter/anchor, previously from WKEF-TV in Dayton, OH.

Bill has really succeeded in Milwaukee despite being a Vikings fan and no college degree

Bob Hetherington was WUAB's first anchor when the 10:00 News started is now in real estate in Columbus.

Hey everybody, did anybody watched the final NewsFix in Dallas and Houston? My Morning Dose on CW South Florida will be replaced with Live PD. But what will replace the NewsFix slot at 9pm central?

Unfortunately, it appears KDAF is giving up on news. Just checked their schedule and they replaced Newsfix with a double run of Daily Mail TV.

KDFW is now the sole provider of 9pm news in Dallas.

Case in point. I had a vision that KDAF and KIAH would get back into the news business. For Example, what if KDAF and KIAH ask Tegna stations

WFAA and KHOU to produce newscasts for their station.

KDAF/WFAA - News 8 Daybreak on CW33 (7-9AM)

Repeat of News 8 Midday (12-1PM)

and News 8 at 9 on CW33 (9-10PM)

KHOU/KIAH - KHOU 11 News This Morning on CW39 (7-9AM)

KHOU 11 News at 3 on CW39 (3-3:30PM or 3-4PM)

and KHOU 11 News at 9 on CW39 (9-10PM)

Good Idea or Bad Idea?

The noon newscast actually continued through the station's first ten years under Hearst. KOCO dropped it in January 2008, when it expanded its 5:00 p.m. newscast to Saturdays and its weekend morning newscasts to Sundays.

I think sooner rather than later KOCO will have to launch a 4p newscast (they don't necessarily need a midday newscast as they already have a 9a newscast so all they would need to do is shift the 9a to 11a if they were to get back into the midday newscast and shift Access Live to 9a)

But I think as long as they have the Dr. Oz/Steve/Ellen block, KOCO will never get into the 4p news game (much like KOKH will never add any early evening/late afternoon newscasts as long as Judy is still doing Judge Judy and The Big Bang Theory does well in the 6/6:30p slots)

The man who took a pickup to KDFW's studio-office building in Dallas recently has been let go. Authorities can't hold him if no charges are ever filed. With all the mess he made and dust-up he caused, no one has any objection--KDFW, WFAA, no one.

Apparently nobody is running the ship at the Sheriffs department...

If there was ever a time CBS/KTXA could get back in the game, it's now. I was actually a fan of their primetime news block. This is the perfect opportunity to try again. More than likely, this is wishful thinking, though.

Strangely, no word yet on KDFW's website, but KXAS and KTVT have reports on their sites:

Better yet, why don't they do a live one since KDFW is now the only one on at Noon and theirs is only 30 minutes. However, if you see Nexstar or some dark horse candidate that would be willing to invest in a news department getting the station, that's less of a sure thing.
