I'd be curious if KTUL eventually get into the weekend morning news game. I know KJRH, KOKI, and KOTV are the only ones with a weekend morning newscast in some way, shape or form

Atlanta's secondary PBS station WPBA has reacted an agreement with PBS to become a full service PBS station, allowing it to better compete against GPB's WGTV. Until now WPBA could only air 25% of PBS content.

I doubt it they haven’t had a weekend morning show since 1999-2000 era.

Monday, August 13th

3 PM: Debuts Local 10 News at 3PM also known as the 3 o'clock FirstCast. It will be a 30 minute newscast.

3:30 PM: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

I wonder which station will pick up Dr. Oz?

It will pretty much be no different from how WVIZ and WNEO/WEAO operate.

I would assume that WGTV would broadcast shows in their prime national days/times, and WPBA will air them on alternate days. That is what is done in DMA 1, where WNET airs the national schedule, WLIW (owned by WNET) and NJTV (managed by WNET) air them at different times. Considering PBS does not often repeat shows this seems to work.

Both of KSNT's sports talents are leaving at the same time. Ironically, the same thing happened to WIBW-TV earlier this summer, though both were quickly replaced.

Has WGCL swapped Shon Gables for Tracye Hutchins?

I've noticed the last few days Tracye has been anchoring the morning news for CBS 46

FTVLive made mention of this happening, I just didn't know it was going to happen so soon.

Heads up, Raleigh now has three noon newscasts for ONE HOUR thanks to WNCN 17, the CBS affiliate (former NBC). They just did a strange thing to a Nexstar Media General, it expanded from 30-minutes to one full-hour. The Young and the Restless has been at 4pm in the Triangle since 1993 back when CBS was with WRAL 5.

But it’s not the only newscast change, but KMAX 31 in Sacramento is moving it’s 11pm newscast to sister station KOVE 13 to follow the hour-long 10:00 news, the only CBS O&O station to do so. KOVR hasn’t had an 11pm since 2005 after Sinclair bought the station to CBS. So the station will have an 11:00pm news 7 days a week, not just on weeknights.

I'll soon report it on my blog.

Speaking of the blog... while WNCN has expanded its noon newscast to a full hour as of yesterday, history was made over at Sacramento's KOVR when it has decided to move its 11:00 p.m. news from KMAX to KOVR and expand it to weekends.

This means that KOVR has become the first BIG Three O&O station/affiliate to air 90-minutes of local news from 10:00-11:35 p.m. every night.

Dan McCarthy has left WGME. He made quite an impression in a relatively short amount of time in the market. The tributes are rolling in - including from the competition.

Don't know if this has already been posted here, but WSB-TV has launched a competitor to WAGA's Good Day Atlanta during the 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. timeslot... but on the station's website and mobile apps. A two-hour extension of Channel 2 Action News This Morning debuted in that time period this past Monday (July 30) on WSB Now, the station's live-streaming platform that carries a mix of WSB newscasts as well as other local programs (including many exclusive to the WSB Now service).

When I did my article on my blog, I had to mention that while WSB claimed to be the first to do this... not true. KIRO used to have an hour-long extension at 7:00am that was online and streaming only as well as KELOLand offering a 15-minute newscast at 4:00pm that was also online and streaming only. Both have since been discontinued.

But I believe WSB is the first to create a full-time 24/7 online/streaming channel as if it was a real-time traditional television channel, giving WSB a sister platform to air additional hours of local news if it wanted.

There is another example of an online-only newscast that wasn't a short newsbrief. KOKH originated its 5:00 p.m. newscast as a web/app-only broadcast in February 2014; they quickly moved that broadcast to television in September 2014, as an hour-long broadcast.
