I know networks can request stations uplink footage or perhaps cover a press conference. But can they request them to deploy their helicopter or drone for coverage? I assume they’d be reimbursed.

I’m thinking of situations such as holiday weekend travel. Say your news helicopter is only up in the morning until 7AM but your in one of the areas where there are backups and the network wants live footage through out their show - maybe until 8AM. Is that reimbursable.

KSWB got new mic flags. Kinda weird looking to me... But maybe a precursor to a new logo...

It's just a horizontal version of the vertical logo.

You beat me to the punch. Lol. I can see those searchlights still on the "5"

MMJ and chief photog at WCMH Rick Reitzel out. Been there 25 years, through 4 owners: Outlet, NBC, Media General and Nexstar and 6 news directors.

Impressive enough is someone there who survived through Stan Sanders' tenure as news director. Media General finally pulled the plug on him in 2009 amidst their cutbacks...

Sanders was an NBC yes-man that NY installed in 1999... no one in the newsroom liked him. He tried to fire Ganahl back in 2005. Surprised Craig Robinson didn’t try to fire him before Media General put their people in place by 2008.

Longtime WDJT anchor Michele McCormack announced on her personal FB page that she has left the station as of the 16th.

Never announced it. She just changed her status. FTVlive made the announcement part up and the “responsible”journalists of Milwaukee repeated it.

WHDH morning meteorologist Wren Clair has left 7 Bulfinch Place. No social media posts for over three weeks, and her bio has disappeared from the 7News website. There is speculation that she has returned to her native Minnesota.

In addition to being an MMJ...

They probably wanted him to wash the station windows and do the landscaping maintenance between vo-sots and face-tweets.

A man has his limits.

Someone over at TVForum wrote this about the deaths of WYFF’s Aaron Smeltzer and Mike McMcCormick and my response.

WYFF the Hearst owned NBC station in Greenville' date=' SC lost two employees today - an anchor/reporter and a photographer. They were covering severe rain from now sub tropical storm Alberto when a tree fell ontop of the SUV they were working in. A tragic and freak accident. Thoughts and prayers to their family. [/quote']

It isn't a tragic and freak accident - it's putting two human beings deliberately in danger to win ratings, regardless of the cost too life.

I see what your saying. But what about BBC, ITV or Sky News covering storm? I imagine sometimes they are on a deadline working in their car.

What can you say?

They were performing a job and public service and lost their lives in the process....

Not like the BBC ever sent a crew into danger (Iraq) and lives were lost.

Nothing good will come from this....there is nobody to blame.

It's a sad chain of events that only could have been prevented by staying home.

...and if you would have asked those guys if they wanted to stay home that day...they would have laughed in our faces.

This may be in the wake of getting Jackie Layer from NECN/WBTS a couple of months ago. For their output WHDH seems dead set to not go beyond four meteorologists.

If that's the case, it seems foolhardy - from all appearances Wren had quite a following. Then again, Ansin has a history of shooting himself in the foot regarding talent.

To add to WCMH departures; today was midday, 5, and 5:30pm anchor Ellie Merritt's last day, and Saturday was meteorologist Tara Lane's last day. Ellie, who was at the station at least a decade and also worked at WSYX, is leaving the industry "to spend time with her daughters." Tara was only at the station about a year. Guess her husband couldn't find full time work in Columbus so they are going back to North Carolina. She is good enough to return to the air down there.

WNYT has another line-up change - morning meteorologist Paul Caiano is moving to 11pm to officially replace Jason Gough, who left in January. This marks Paul’s return to evenings as he was previously the weekend meteorologist until 2000 when Norm Sebastian passed.

In addition WNYT also aired archive footage today on the Mechanicville, NY tornado, which struck 20 years ago today. Here is some footage of their reports from YouTube:

This reunites Paul with Jim Kambrich, who was anchoring mornings at the time Paul went there from weekends. It'll be interesting to see if the chemistry they had on mornings sticks in evenings 15 years later.

Replacing Caiano on mornings is current floating meteorologist Neal Estano who is no stranger to mornings in the Albany market. He was the first ever morning meteorologist in the market when WRGB started a morning newscast in 1988 and later came back to that time period from 2008-2012.

Ellie Merritt was hired over from channel 10... she was one of Media General’s first hires after they bought the station from NBC and the subsequent 2007 cuts. She replaced Holly Hollingsworth who was there from ‘97-‘07. Is Holly still in the industry?

And that's where she will be, this time at FOX 46: http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/113944/tara-lane-is-new-wjzy-weekday-meteorologist

Holly does PR for AT&T. Remember when Ellie filled in for Yolanda during two-months when she was on medical leave at WSYX.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was earlier than that, maybe I remember her at BNS and that's why.
