Becoming a part-time fill-in/swing position on WTOL or WTVG would be a promotion.

She's already worked at WTOL - she was one of the folks let go during the Cards Against Humanity debacle. Totally agree that she deserves better.

Here we go. Another news expansion.

WISH-TV in Indiana announced that it will expand its 24-hour News 8 Daybreak to the 9am hour. That will move its local lifestyle program Indy Style to the 10am hour.

The release also says that News 8 will also be aired after Indy Style on the 11am hour. Now the release did not say whether if this newscast is being moved from 12pm to 11am or if this is another expansion (I hope not). Their midday news is currently airs from 12pm to 1pm.

Anyway, the changes go in effect Monday, September 11th.

The Dali Lama (sp) just spent 2 days giving commencement speeches at University of California at San Diego(UCSD). Every local station sent out the greenest reporters they had to ohhhh and ahhhh over the Dalli.....

The old man comes with a little controversy...you see the Chinese government would like to execute him and his followers. They have killed plenty already.

So you would think one of our astute local reporters would mention what the REAL story is....

Seeing that 14% of the students at UCSD are directly from mainland China and studying here.

But the reporters were too busy going gaga over the dali.

You would think a decent reporter would stick a mic in the face of a few Chinese students for some reax.

KGTV even sent a friggin Chinese reporter named Jessica Chen ...who was clueless!!!

Idiots!

And just for the sake of "objective journalism", they showed the 3 protestors outside. A couple of them were white... They're so completely oblivious as to what's happening in the real world.

Ohh, Ohh!

AND the Morons sent out a bonded cellular unit and NOT a real live truck. What kind of assignment desk idiot sends a bonded cellular unit to a location with 20,000+ other cellular user crammed into one area????

As expected the signal went to shit because everyone else was smartphoning away...and taking the bandwidth KGTV wanted. Bonded Cellular Rule #1: Avoid crowds at all cost!

That's beyond their pay grade. All they want to do is show up on the scene, turn on that mic, apply the make up, ask a few questions, look pretty and leave. Figuring out the logistics of a Dejero is beyond their comprehension. Sadly, it shows.

Maybe he gave them total consciousness on their death bed for later in life. So they have that going for them, which is nice!

WCVB/Boston anchor/Chronicle co-host JC Monahan has left the station. It was announced in February that she would not be renewing her contract. Since then Emily Reimer has assumed Monahan's previous duties at the anchor desk, and earlier this month it was announced that Shayna Seymour would take over as co-host of Chronicle. Monahan's next destination hasn't been announced, but she has tweeted that an announcement would be forthcoming on July 1. It is widely speculated that she will be joining fellow ex-5'er Phil Lipof at NBC Boston.

That is exactly where she's heading. She'll be anchoring the afternoon/evening broadcast.

They didn't state the specific times she'll be anchoring. And no telling whom she'll eventually replace. Joy, Audrey or Shannon (who's currently on maternity).

Quote also didn't mention that J.C. and Phil are childhood friends. Just to put something interesting into context.

Here is a gem from WNWO in Toledo (courtesy of FTVLive). This is what happens when you let another station (WSBT in South Bend) produce the news segs while the weather segments are in Toledo....

As if this wasn't bad enough, I have two other gems for you which are equally as bad.....

I didn't realize the weather segments were in Toledo.

Status Quo, Status Quo.

Just like that, WGCL's News Director Frank Volpicella is OUT after only eleven months.

Rodney Ho from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said that he was the six ND of Channel 46 in nine years.

Volpicella was the former ND of Austin's KVUE.

WGCL is destined to be a revolving door for all eternity, there will never be any stability. The silver lining here is that hopefully the new ND will get rid of conspiracy theorist Ben Swann.

I'm surprised that Meredith hasn't unloaded this raging dumpster fire of a station; instead they doubled down and purchased WPCH from Time Warner. The station's toxic reputation has to reflect badly on Meredith's corporate image.

This ratings dumpster fire is still a CBS station in a top ten market. That still makes it very valuable and profitable.

WBAL is loosing longtime traffic and noon news anchor Sarah Caldwell who after 15 years has her last day this coming Friday. She posts that she'll remain in Baltimore but doesn't mention any future plans.

Now I wonder if she may be crossing the street or hopping the fence over to WJZ now that Marcus Washington is heading to KNTV. Anchoring the weekend evening news would be a big step up.

WBIN's getting a new owner — Univision, to the tune of $16.7 million.

I wonder if Univision programming will end up moving from 27 to 50 and Entravision gets frozen out in the cold.

I wonder how far east the WUNI tower can be moved because this could be a) a full-power home for WBTS or b) a new home for WBPX with WBTS moving to the current WBPX.

The WUTF signal covers the market very well from their tower about 10 miles NW of the Needham towers, with pattern mainly directional east. WUNI coverage is not quite as good, but not bad. Whether WUNI could move or not depends on what the future ch 19 signal could interfere with.

Univision could sell the WBIN license to WBTS, making a tidy profit, probably - but would have to increase the channel sharing bandwidth from the small percentage included in the Binnie agreement.

Looking at the repack map on RabbitEars, a move of WUNI to the CBS Tower could be possible. The only stations that WUNI could possibly interfere with are NHPTV's WEKW (moving to 18) and WBZ (moving to 20). In fact, it might actually be a better arrangement than WUNI remaining at its current site because it would be co-located with WBZ, virtually eliminating the interference between them, and it would reduce the interference between WUNI and WEKW because it would be moving farther away from them. The closest channel 19 station would be Ion's WYPX in Albany, which wouldn't even come close to interfering with WUNI. Even then, the coverage map for WUNI on RabbitEars shows strong coverage into Boston (although a weaker signal south of Boston).
