Out & About

It's the end of a long era in Phoenix television. Tonight is Dave Munsey's final forecast for KSAZ. He started in the mid-70s at KOOL-TV and has survived a lot of change in Valley TV news.

Unfortunately, what has not survived are good traces of KSAZ's old logos, evidently. They trotted this abomination out last night:

More departures at WRIC...AGAIN: reporters Nakell Williams, Jonathan Costen and Candice Cole. Just last month (I mentioned it on this thread), morning anchor Amanda Malkowski left the station.

Maybe Jonathan will come back down 64 for a third time...

for some reason FOX or tribune has been doing this for a while now. apparently when you watch FOX's live stream on FOX's website they show the Tribune Broadcasting logo or in some areas the golden Nexstar "LOCAL" logo looping for a few seconds (the same ones after a newscast) before going to commercials. i could be wrong but they seem to do this to plaster over the Local commercials.

Tegna owned NBC affiliate KPNX is apparently pushing out main co-anchor Vanessa Ruiz after 2 years:

Follow-up.

From the Arizona Republic, Ruiz is taking a position at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. There, she will be the director of broadcasting for its Borderlands coverage team at Cronkite News, as well as leading a new Spanish-language newscast entitled ''Cronkite Noticias''. She'll also be involved in special productions for Arizona PBS.

Ruiz will leave Channel 12 in next month, and start her new position August 1st.

Chuck Bell, Sheena Parveen, Doug Kammerer, Amelia Draper, Lauryn Ricketts, and a new lady named Somara Theodore. So right now, if you include Tom, they have 7 meteorologists, compared to WJLA's team of 8, WTTG's team of 6, and WUSA's team of 4

That's the same Somara who got fired along with Jackie Fernandez from WEWS for that political post on their social media pages back in November. Glad she found a new gig.
