Samantha 2873
A semi truck that was too tall snagged a power line, leaving WKMG in the dark and forcing it to cancel an hour of news today. They wound up airing Rachael Ray instead of their 4pm show.

MilwaukeeMan 4
There is big news from Today's TMJ4, on March 1st Storm Team 4's John Malan who has been forecasting back in 1980 announced he will be retiring. He was a great meteorologist to everyone who watched his forecast ️ Thanks to John and TMJ4. His last newscast was last night, a nice send off, any word on who his replacement as chief will be? In-House or will they look to poach from another market?
Weeters 1749
His last newscast was last night, a nice send off, any word on who his replacement as chief will be? In-House or will they look to poach from another market? Seeing as it took a year to fill Mike Jacobs' seat, don't expect this to move too quickly. If they were smart they would name Brian Gotter the chief and keep him on mornings like WITI.

ns8401 839
Morning reporter / weekend morning anchor Nima Schaffe is out at WXYZ in Detroit. According to what he posted on Facebook he is the 18th employee there let go in 5 months with more to come. It's a major house cleaning after a decade plus of bad news directors making poor hires (though he was good). Their newscasts are better quality under their new ND even if they don't have full staffing behind the scenes...

newsbot 269
Ex-WGME anchor Adrienne Stein joins WCSH/WLBZ as a contributor to the "NewsCenter Now" reformat of its 5PM weekday newscast, which focuses on long-form pieces driven by viewer feedback (Stein has been behind the scenes as an Executive Producer at One Congress Square since last June.) Sports Director Lee Goldberg is co-anchor of the program with Amanda Hill - yet another "repurposing" of sports talent à la KUSA? Incidentally, at least for the NewsCenter Now program, the station bug including time and temperature is included in its live stream. Lots of 90s-evoking in-studio shakicam work. The program has its own unique graphics. And what would a "trendy" newscast be without its social media segment? The theme for NewsCenter Now is a variation on the "This is Home" package. Incidentally, NewsCenter also debuted new background music for the open of its 5:30P newscast.

AJClementeFan69 477
Another Tegna Depature. WTSP's Investigative Reporter Mike Deeson has left the station. Something has to be in the water there. east-tx-tv 105
During NBC's primetime schedule on March 9, 1987, their list of affiliates grew by one, as KETK-56 made its debut that night. With the addition to the Tyler-Longview market, there was finally a standalone NBC affiliate there after 33 years of KLTV's cherry-picking (they and sister KTRE could air anything from any net until KLMG (now Fox affil KFXK) came along with CBS, then 2 1/2 years later, KETK snatched up NBC). The past 3 decades have been eventful: original license-holder filed bankruptcy, call letters changed after that, broadcast tower damaged by ice before completion, a construction worker fell off the microwave-ENG tower at the station and died before that tower was done, a tornado hit the studios building 8 months after KETK went on the air, 4 years later the station left its COL city for a former men's clothing store building in Tyler, later on after ownership changes KETK ends up sharing the building with former competitor KFXK, as well as the acquisition several months ago of the station(s) by Nexstar. Well, never a dull moment as they say, so happy 30th anniversary to KETK-56!
scrabbleship 427
Nicole Pence, niece of VP Mike Pence, leaving WTTV/WXIN and TV news altogether... http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/nicole-pence-niece-of-vp-mike-pence-leaving-tv-news/186898 At least one Pence is leaving a dumpster fire. I find her timing (International Women's Day) vis a vis her uncle's unchecked misogyny to be quite coincidental. Back on topic, given WTTV's rating woes I wonder if their time with CBS will be akin to what happened in Seattle 20 years ago. I know there's a few years left but I think Nexstar would kill to get CBS back on WISH if they could.
