I mentioned it in the chatbox...

KSWL-LD 17 is the new CBS affiliate for Lake Charles. Signed on air on Feb. 15th and is in 1080i HD. Owned by Wayport Media, which also owns WPBI-LD 16 (FOX/NBC) in Lafayette, IN.

It hopes to carry local news in the future, which is also true for WPBI-LD. This now leaves ABC as the only TV network left without its own dedicated Lake Charles TV affiliate, since all others are available including PBS.

I'm so old I remember when KVHP 29 was the default Fox affiliate for Beaumont.

What companies like Sinclair really want is access to New York (WPIX), Los Angeles (KTLA) and Chicago (WGN)-- mostly WGN.

I warned about it when Liguori started complaining about the stock price (i.e., the investors want their money). Tribune sold real estate. They sold Gracenote. They offered buyouts. Liguori is leaving. Station sales are next. If no company can be formed to buy the whole lot, then Tribune will have to smash itself with a hammer.

You're forgetting WGN America. Talk about a hammer S!nclair can use to extort cable companies for every station in the whole damn chain.

WGN America is not that big a hammer. It's lots of old reruns and tired movies with one or two original productions here and there. There isn't anything that can't be found on a dozen other rerun channels, and certainly nothing that anybody feels is a cable deal-maker or breaker.

certain CBS stations air the price is right at 11AM instead of 10AM. majority of the O&Os in the west coast have 10PM slot. KCNC however decided to keep lets make a deal at 2PM due to CBS this morning at 9AM where as other CBS O&Os show lets make a deal at 9AM. this is probably the same case for CBS affiliates not owned by CBS like Nexstar, Sinclair or Hearst for example.

WAFB does this and airs "The Y & the R" at 4 pm...they've been doing this for years.

Please be Meredith....please be Meredith....PLEASE PLEASE be Meredith that ends up with them!

Now that Meredith owns the station formerly known as WTBS outright.....they could have a superstation and a former one on their hands...

They're the only ones who have room to expand and taking the prime Tribune properties could be a new avenue for them.

The KCNC's guide says that Rachael Ray is aired at 9am.

No matter who ends up with them...Tribune will be gutted further.

Any real estate left?

weird. because it said CBS this morning. at 9AM. i must have gotten a site glitch. and can you believe NBC turns 90?

Some site schedules are adjusted to your local time zone.

You know NBC turns 90 and is likely older than the BBC when it was formed in the current incarnation? When it was formed it was based on a consortorium of radio manufacturers.

Oh god no. If Sinclair buys the major ones, say goodbye to WPIX, KTLA and WGN as we know it. Sinclair ruins everything and these stations will be no different.

If Tribune goes away, these stations are ruined.

wpix IS ruined.... Been the laughing stock of NYC News Media for over 30 years. "We do News our own way" has always been the mantra of the management - yeah, you do News the WRONG Way.

But didnt Beaumont have KUIL 64 as a FOX affiliate fot Beaumont?

KVHP initially served both Lake Charles and Beaumont. Then, the same company (National Communications) launched KUIL to serve Beaumont. This, among other things, allowed them to target ads to just Beaumont viewers and let KVHP carry Saints games in Lake Charles and KUIL carry Cowboys games in Beaumont instead of having to choose one or the other. Eventually, KBTV flipped from NBC to Fox, taking the affiliation away from KUIL.

And KUIL today operates as a literal extension of KBMT (12.5 and 12.6, respectively).

WJBK weekend anchor Ron Savage died of a heart attack today.

http://www.fox2detroit.com/news/local-news/238077533-story

Just watched the 6:00 news online. Emotional seeing anchors marching on while paying tribute to Ron. Moral of the story is sentiment shared: Live your life, appreciate it. We all have an expiration date, some sooner than others. No matter how much we hope to live as long a la Betty White or Dick van Dyke. As fit as he was, younger than his age, while training, not even fitness did it prevent tragedy. Strength for his family + friends at this time.

According to DCRTV, WJLA will be dropping MeTV effective 3/1. No word on if another DC station will pick it up or if local cable providers will pick up the Baltimore or Richmond feed.

They're going to add Sinclair's new action-themed diginet Charge! on that allotment.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fox gets MeTV, since it already carries its other networks on WDCA. Fox also carries MeTV on Austin's KTBC 7.4.

Sula Kim is rejoining New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU this time as weeknight 5, 6 & 10 pm co-anchor:

http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/anchor-returning-to-new-orleans-after-2-years-in-seattle/186379

What's happening to Adrianna Hopkins?

She's leaving to move out of state to be with her husband.

And now, I have just finished reading that TVSpy story without going to TVSpy because all details were provided. Thanks, TVNT.
