That makes a lot more sense than Tyra flopping...and it gives you another hour of local avails/news for political ads.

And you know Scripps is salivating at the prospect of the political money coming in next year...

_________

Maybe they will finally go with ABC 10 [News] in the fall. When the debut their new programming at 4pm

You just handed it to them...on a silver platter...

Watch them do something Scripps mandated, and totally stupid.

BTW...

Did you see that Itica placed her ifb/mic pacs in her butt area tonight?

looked pretty bad in the on-set stand-up.

Didn't catch it. I would ask if they think things through before they do them, but I already know the answer to my own question.

We have the official launch date coming from WEVV CBS (44.1) & FOX (44.2), 44News will be on the air Monday, August 3rd.

https://www.facebook.com/44NewsEvansville

One question: The Courier & Press article announcing WEVV's new anchor teams stated that the news department would be based out of WTVW's old studios on Carpenter Street, instead of WEVV's existing studio on Main Street (both of which are large enough to house a news department and house back office operations as well).

Will all the administrative and back office operations move there by August 3, or is this going to be like the arrangement with WOLO and (during its first two years as an ABC affiliate) WFTS, where the news department is based in a separate facility from the main offices, since the article doesn't mention if everything else is moving.

I would imagine everything would be moved to the Carpenter St facility, with the existing building on Main and Riverside repurposed (or possibly demolished).

The only advantage I see to moving to the old WTVW studios is that Nexstar may have laid the ground work for HD broadcasts before jumping to WEHT's Henderson facility. Whereas the existing equipment at WEVV's Main St building likely dates to when they shut the news department down 15 years ago.

The 25 Main Street building will most likely be repurposed. It is one of the nicest buildings in that area. I heard one the reasons they are moving is because the taxes on the prime property area so high.

That's sounds entirely possible. There's been a lot redevelopment in downtown and along riverside drive the last few years, spurred in part by the nearby casino.

Vectren and Old National Bancshares have both built new headquarters buildings in the last decade along Riverside as well.

Updated to add: Google Maps now shows 477 Carpenter St as WEVV.

The post-Journal exoduses from WTMJ in Milwaukee continues at the start of the Scripps era; reporter and weekend morning anchor Tom Murray is leaving the station to work in the ministry of a church in suburban Oak Creek before the new TV season. Either God called him there or sent the word to him he wasn't going to get a weekday anchor job once TMJ finally figured out who the heck will ever replace Mike Jacobs.

With CBS being in cost-cutting mode as of late, I don't see them investing in a TV news department for WWJ/WKBD anytime soon.

Heck, WWJ 950 is now voice-tracking their overnight newscasts after the recent bloodletting at the all-newser.

And yet their stacked classic hits station was spared... Never mind that station is #1 at a 7.3...

The cuts by CBS here were deep.

This is apparently over

Never even knew it was a thing, but the idea sounds terrible. Would have been nice to see it in action.

This is somewhat old news, they have been moving towards a more traditional newscast for a little while now. Here is the article from the Charlotte Observer that was cited in the article above.

KFMB's Chopper 8 crapped out again, they were using the Welk Aviation (Angel City Air) ex-Sky 2/9 Helicopter, once again. N29LW. I saw it flying above my place 2 times today. Hope it's permanent this time.

That's why the video from Chopper 8 was very crisp and stable. I still don't get how the hell they pay a company to operate a chopper when it's down at least 50% of the time. Ridiculous.

That debuted this past Monday and I already reported on this, since last week on my blog.

This is the time of year when they do the annual on chopper 8.

Sad to say, ya get what you pay for.

Don't get me started on that bucket of bolts.

I'm afraid to ask. Let's hope that they're doing their due diligence with the maintenance of that chopper...

Annual Inspection? or Annual tear down of the engine?

Is there a reason why they still haven't painted the chopper to match 8's current logo?

What's the point? No one is really looking at it, and it's flying high so it's not like anyone will notice. As far as I know, KSHB didn't update the logo on theirs after they rebranded in 2012. The only change to the paintwork was adding KCTV's logo to one side of it once they entered and SSA over the copter.
