WBTV weekend sports anchor Leah Rubertino has left the station to pursue a career in public relations. She is also getting married in September. Her last sportscast was last night. She will remain in Charlotte. We will miss you Leah! I had the pleasure of meeting her at a football game of my high school's she was covering in 2013.

¡Arriba KTAZ! Seriously, #1 at 10pm in both languages? Another crack in the armor at Univisión, where it seems Telemundo is making local news gains on them left and right. (I don't know if it helped that I appeared on one of those KTAZ newscasts.) I do see that they are using 18-34 and 18-49 demos though...kind of crafty given that most news programming is measured as 25-54.

I don't know how they make the "first time in 25 years" claim though. Telemundo's history in Phoenix is decidedly shorter (and more complicated) than that of Univisión (which came to town at the end of the 70s). Unless they mean "first time in our 25-year history".

KABB has officially made Jessica Headley their new morning anchor replacing Monica Taylor. Headley had been filling in for her. Good to see her get the promotion. Not sure if they are going to make Jennifer Barbaro Headley's replacement or if they are going to go external on that hire, but something tells me they may go for the latter. Kristina De Leon or the anchors themselves have also done the traffic report so it remains to be seen what they'll do.

@sanewsguy so has Channel 4 & FOX 29 merge into one location? Did they move into Channel4's building which was in Downtown SA? At one time both stations were separate, but they did move into someone building? Also did KSAT12 move into their new building yet, and are they going to get an actual set in the new digs?

Yes, WOAI and KABB have merged into the old KABB building at 410 and Babcock. The old WOAI building is currently vacant and on the market. This move occurred back in mid-December.

KSAT has been in their "new" building since early last year. I use new in quotations because I just found out today in fact, that their "new" building is really just an addition to the older building. The newsroom, lobby and most of the offices are in the newer part. But the operations actual studio itself are in the original building still. Which explains why their moving weekend was actually very flawless. Unfortunately we're not told that and they basically misled everyone...

So yes, they still have a virtual set. And since they have had the same CSD since 1997, that won't change until he leaves. (sigh) Just like were stuck with the same old one tired cut of The One and Only from 2003 and a really awful voice over guy who shouldn't be doing voice overs (no not Scott Chapin,

who does the majority of the voiceovers on 12 now).

Lafayette, IN; not LA.

It looks like WEVV 44 is taking over the former WTVW 7's building.

That logo looks great. Also notable that WEVV is moving into WTVW's old digs.

KOLD news director Mark Herman is resigning. He made the announcement last week via (of all things) a cake:

http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/28970534/sweetest-resignation-letter-ever

His last day is May 22nd, two days after the May Sweeps period ends.

Herman is not the news director. He is a newscast director, aka the button pusher in the booth, who keeps the individual newscasts running.

That part of the announcement surprised me more than anything. Built in the mid 80s, the existing WEVV building on Main St & Riverside Dr. ("44 Main St" http://goo.gl/maps/hNkZH) is about a decade newer than the WTVW facilities on Carpenter (http://goo.gl/maps/7CrRu).

Despite the fact that they didn't have a local news presence for most of its history, the WEVV building does have a good size studio & space for a newsroom.

Perhaps the draw is they are inheriting any technical upgrades Nexstar made before combining with WEHT at the Henderson facilities.

My mistake. I thought they meant the same thing.

Fixed it.

A friend from WATE says that he is headed to WKRN. Somehow, this is a good hire for WKRN since they're banking on getting WTVF viewers when Scripps inevitably shoot themselves in the foot there

Can Media General run a cleaner slate than Scripps though?

I agree though WTVF is in a terrible position - it is regionally isolated from most of Scripps' portfolio AND a CBS affiliate for a company that has never had good relations with that network. Nashville is weird with so many "black sheep" stations with their owners due to all these acquisitions.

Scripps didn't even own any CBS stations prior to the merger with Journal, other than KENS 5, in which it was sold quickly to Belo in 1997.

That's what makes the Music City unique in its own right.

Despite Scripps woes WTVF owns the market, and when Scripps makes their debut NewsChannel 5 has the audience hypnotize, and glad for WKRN, but they have to pass WSMV to challenge WTVF in the ratings.

It was 20 years ago today that Baltimore mourns the loss of one of the most popular anchors in B-Town, were talking about the late great Al Sanders. Al worked at WJZ from 1972 til' his

death in 1995 of lung cancer. Al paired with his friend and colleague the late Jerry Turner from 1977 til' Jerry's death on New Year's Eve of 1987. Today we at TVNT honor Al Sanders for

all his dedication and loyalty to television news and his contributions to the city of Baltimore.

Godspeed Al.
