Oh boy. Just another reason why I don't watch KENS

http://jimromenesko.com/2014/07/24/lame-san-antonio-tv-station-declines-to-name-restaurant-caught-storing-food-in-the-bathroom/

(BTW, I had never heard of that restaurant until this story. I hardly ever go to that part of town anyways and I don't eat at five-star restaurants either so I'm not bothered, Also KABB is awesome for naming the restaurant.)

Somebody wrote WATE meteorologist Julya Johnson a not so nice letter

That was one of the most polite rude letters I've ever read, I would imagine there's been weirder and worse.

Longtime anchor of WVEC's morning show Daybreak is leaving the show after 16 years:

https://www.facebook.com/WVECLaSalleBlanks/posts/756558484405278

He isn't leaving the station, but will be leaving the broadcast next Wednesday, August 6. No word yet on what he will be doing (new 4pm newscast maybe once final Katie episode airs?), or who will replace him in the anchor chair, though it's likely that Sandra Parker, Daybreak's current breaking news and fill-in anchor will take his spot.

A tweet on Robert Corbin's VARTV Twitter feed suggests that LaSalle will be a "multi-media journalist"; which I'm guessing will involve a lot of work with the social media sites for WVEC.

Multi-media journalist = one-man band reporter = sometimes you'll have to go out without a photog and be expected to report, shoot, edit and front your story

Gannett's legacy stations like to use the term "backpack journalist" for this but it's the same thing. If he was doing social media reporting they would blatantly say he's a social media or online reporter.

Didn't know where to put this but on Monday in Milwaukee, Movies! Is moving from WMLW 49.3 to WISN 12.2. Yep, the last remaining major station in the market without a subchannel is finally taking the plunge.

WVEC really only has one so far, they call him a "13News Chaser". They are also advertising for a MMJ on their Gannett employment listings.

Well this was a surprise. Keith King is leaving KSHB after 18 years at the station. Today was his final day at the station. He was a general reporter, weekend anchor for a number a years and most recently their Call For Action reporter. No word on who will replace him.

Yup - http://www.vartv.com/pdf/WVEC_2014_07_30.pdf 4pm, that means every station in the market has a 4pm newscast. Is this the first market to do that?

Honolulu's KHON has announced that it is launching a 9 p.m. newscast on September 8, and has hired Howard Dashefsky (who had left the station in 2009) to be its anchor. KHON has aired its late newscast solely at 10 p.m. since joining Fox in January 1996, instead of airing newscasts at 9 and 10 p.m. like a few of the Big Three affiliates that joined Fox between 1994 and 1996 (not sure whether this had to do with the fact that KHON delays Fox's Sunday night lineup by one hour, but its probably one reason).

Another: KHON was the market news leader and really has run itself like a Big Three in a lot of other ways. About the only thing they added when the switch took place was a replacement for the network newscast which many new Fox affiliates of the time did.

Meanwhile, here in Market #60, two anchors are leaving KJRH. The weekday morning team of Justin Wilfon and Deena Silk will be leaving the Scripps-owned NBC station. Silk is out after 9 years with Ch. 2 as of tomorrow. Wilfon is leaving in late August for sister station KSHB in Kansas City to join "The Now."

This hasn't gone full-on public yet (unless I'm way behind), but as I was snooping around Twitter tonight, I found out that reporter Jeremy Ross of WITI in Milwaukee is joining WBBM in Chicago in a similar role. He just recently filed his last report north of the Cheddar Curtain.

A third consideration is that Joe may want to cut bank his anchoring and/or retire in the not-so-distant future. So, hiring Dash means that they will have a replaement when and if Joe decides to leave.

Pure speculation on my end, but has WKRC already found their replacement for Kit Andrews?

Said anchor left WTWO this week and the new station is supposed to make an announcement next week. Betting $25 it's WKRC for a variety of reasons. Stay tuned...
