Remember Rhonda Lee, the meteorologist who was fired in 2012 from Shreveport's KTBS after defending her natural hair on the station's Facebook page? Now she announced that she has accepted a job at WeatherNation TV in Denver.

Since we're on the subject of weather, TVSpy announced on their recent "On The Move" post that Jim Kosek is joining KCTV in Kansas City as their weekend evening meteorologist. The former AccuWeather personality recently left KTVX in Salt Lake City.

I tipped them off to Kosek quite awhile ago. Surprised they're just now mentioning it.

It looks like WXIA will be rebuilding their morning show so it revolves around Vinnie Politan. Say goodbye to 11Alive News Today and say hello to "Atlanta Alive." And you can say goodbye to Karyn Greer anchoring mornings...

What about 7-9 am on WATL? Guess that branding remains the same? EDIT: Never mind, I checked, I thought they had 7-9 news on there, I guess not.

Now who the heck will I watch when I go to Jackson during football season? On the other hand, it's good to see him going to JSU's Ch. 23 (shout-out to my alma matter). I know he'll be helpful to those up and coming students.

I had a feeling that he would retire soon. One of the best, no doubt.

Former WAPT and WLBT anchor Katina Rankin has been hired to be anchor at WATN ABC 24 Memphis.

http://ftvlive.com/todays-news/2014/7/16/new-anchor-hire-in-memphis

Good hire, although you have to feel bad for WLBT after losing Paul Williams (now at WATN), Bert Case (retired?), Rob Jay (now at Jackson State University), and now Katina Rankin as well.

Ironically, that means Rankin and Williams will be reunited again.

They did at one time do 7-8am news on WATL like 5 years ago, but didn't last. So it only a matter of time to see what there going to do.

Interesting to see two former Buffalo TV staffers (Chesley McNeill, who was hired from 11Alive's sister station, WGRZ, and Tracy Humphrey, formerly at WKBW) working for the same station now.

The Times-Picayune is stating that WWL will be adding its newscasts.

No longer will WDSU be the sole news club on weekend mornings, WWL will be adding newscasts on Saturday Mornings from 8-9am, and on Sunday Mornings from 6-7am. Eyewitness Morning News reporter Antwan Harris will anchor the weekend morning shows. That will start August 9th.

Also, on September 9th, WWL will add a new 6:30pm newscast that will air on WUPL 54. This will be the first newscast on WUPL since it ended its 9pm newscast in April 2013. Natalie Shepard & Thanh Troung will anchor the new 6:30pm show.

ABC has signed an affiliation agreement with Gray to make KGNS-DT2 the ABC affiliate for Laredo, TX beginning in February 2014. No word yet on what happens to The CW, which currently occupies KGNS-DT2.

Well, I think that's the first time a station has chosen to use their "Neilsen Calls" to brand a subchannel.

I'm a little concerned about WeatherNation TV's future. I'm not sure that building a second studio facility in the Denver area is good idea right now. I know they want to be taken seriously and are trying to "upgrade" their appearance. But, AccuWeather is launching soon and will fill easily fill that "TWC" alternative role almost immediately. AccuWether has the brand and resources already in place. I'm not sure if this massive investment by WeatherNation is going to pay off.

First, about WWL. I never understand why they never had a weekend morning newscast, while WDSU had it for a minute. I'm guessing they putting alot of resources into their 4½ hour weekday morning program.

As for Gannett, didn't one of its stations eliminated a weekend morning newscast at one point?

Wasn't WUSA that station? They had weekend morning newscasts a few years back but at present do not have any.
