Canadian Radio News (via Facebook) reports the following...

In terms of the Top 40 genre in the market, according to the latest Toronto radio ratings (Summer 2018), CKFM Virgin Radio 99.9 is #1 with an 18.6/6.3%, beating CKIS KiSS 92.5 with an 8.6/2.9% and CIDC Z 103.5 with a 5.0/1.7%.

In fact, to put this into perspective, compared to last summer and even to this past Spring 2018, Virgin Radio was the only station out of the three to increase its ratings while the other two have fallen.

Also, as of the Summer, CKFM is #7 overall in the market, behind (in the following order) 98.1 CHFI (A.C.), 97.3 CHBM (Classic Hits), 99.1 CBLA (CBC Radio One - Public Radio), 680 CFTR (All-news radio), 96.3 CFMZ (Classical - one of only five commercial stations with that format in the entire country, btw) and 104.5 CHUM (Hot A.C.). It was 0.2 of beating CHUM but it did beat 1010 CFRB (News/Talk) by .6 (CKFM's 18.6 vs. CFRB's 18.0)

Yet, despite its rating success, its entire on-air staff is gone. Thoughts?

Virgin Radio debuted a new morning show with Adam Wylde (formerly of Citytv's Breakfast Television) and TJ - who was brought in to take over the morning show in what was assumed to be an interim basis.

Still a baffling decision why they turfed the entire on-air staff.

Adam's mother is Marilyn Denis, long time co-host on sister-station 104.5 CHUM.
