Can't find it now, but I saw a tweet that said it was referring to KYW, that the new 4pm newscast's ratings have been awful. Not surprisingly, morale has dipped even further, as no staff was added with the additional hour of news.

CBS might have to take drastic action with kyw. Perhaps shuttering in house news operations and let another TV station in town provide the news via outsourcing . CBS 3 might as well give up competing for news in this town. Everything they tried for several decades since the late 70's has not worked. Like it or not CBS may have to consider this option .

On the contrary.

The mid 2000s era of CBS 3 was successful because of the duo they had in place that was ultimately destroyed thanks to Larry Mendte's need to meddle with things and be a terrible person. This was back when many of the CBS O&Os weren't also-rans.

Besides, CBS needs to take drastic action with WFOR but they won't because they won't dare of shuttering news operations in top markets, Detroit is the lone exception since there is no money to be made anymore.

For the millionth time, that's not going to happen.

Isn't it more profitable to produce news in-house than to pay another station to do it?

Perhaps, but why spend money on a product that is failing in the ratings and been the case for decades? CBS3 could save a lot of money outsourcing the news.

You’re stuck on stupid! It’s been explained to you numerous times and it’s a silly idea.

A STATION IN THE FOURTH LARGEST MARKET OWNED BY THE #1 RATED TELEVISION NETWORK IS NOT GOING TO OUTSOURCE ITS NEWSCASTS.

WTXF IS ALSO NOT GOING TO OUTSOURCE, ESPECIALLY IF FOX REQUIRES ITS STATIONS (ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT IT OWNS) TO HAVE SOME SORT OF NEWS DEPARTMENT.

Get it out your head. It’s a silly and unrealistic idea.
