Non-News Classic Video

I merged and uploaded from a deleted YT source most of the 11am hour of programming from WFLA-TV from November 22, 1982. Partial episode of a Syndicated 1980 rerun of NBC's Card Sharks and most of a 1981 rerun of The Joker's Wild with commercials intact and an editorial from then-News Director Joe Mannion. The deleted source posted these in 2014 along with the end of TJW episode with a WFLA Noon News open and commercials from an All In The Family rerun. Unfortunately, the last 2 videos are MIA from the internet because the original poster uploaded an entire broadcast of Super Bowl XIX.

More good stuff: Send off video for WABC assistant news director in the nineties. Very WGN Morning News satirical feel to it, lol. NJ Burkett's Tim Milton impression was spot on (1993)

Is that the same David Friend who went on to CBS? If so, that certainly aged…

From September 13, 1992: Commercials from "NBC Nightside" (mostly Direct-response commercials) with local NYC-area commercials taped from WNBC during the second month of the station's first era of "We're 4 New York" (as seen on the ID), plus the intro of "Incredible Innovations" infomercial from the late Ron Popeil (aka Mr. Ronco)!

A Yakima sign-on that was not found by yours truly! KAPP signs on the air in September 1987 and there's a bunch of Saturday morning commercials that follow. THANKS to the Oddity Archive for this!

Be on the lookout from the AVTB account for some rare *1981* Yakima TV clips to come. In fact, it's the earliest example I've ever found of an SLP/EP-speed tape.

If Basil Bassett Bingo is part of the commercial break, you know that it's WRAL's old C-Band feed and definitely not the Raleigh feed. RARE stuff - and yes, the thumbnail has Basil's eyes popping out 😮

There's also some WJLA breaks included. WJLA was the ABC Primetime 24 C-Band affiliate in the mid-1990s. WKRN Nashville eventually replaced them.

The pre-launch promo of "Extra" and the promo for the return of "Inside Edition" from WNBC in 1994. "COPS" reruns leave WNBC for WNYW in exchange for "IE" and "Love Connection" ended their run also on WNBC. "IE" leaves WNBC again in 1996, while "Extra" leaves WNBC in 2019 for WNYW.

A look back at the old WGN SyndEx feed in 1993 - psychics, timeshares and Rogaine, oh my! These ads aired during the 3AM Late Movie, 'The Neon Ceiling' with Lee Grant. That psychic company bought MULTIPLE ad slots in the overnight hours it seems. Plus, a couple of 900 chat lines to boot. I found one in the part 2 compilation that had a *011* number! That's the international access prefix for North America.

and here's an interesting find: Showtime's on a free preview, but Showtime isn't originating the feed. It's Terry Rich live at EPCOT for TCI Cablevision. TCI originated the feed that weekend and pushed hard to subscribe. January 3rd, 1992

And he will turn 90 this December! One of the last traditional game show emcees left, now that Bob Barker is up in the heavens.

Some great non-news stuff in the last batch of videos...first clip came from the estate of a man who had tons of C-Band equipment, and it shows! He taped Millennium on FOX's west coast feed, then when it ended, surfed for more wildfeeds:

Also a KXLY sign-off and beautiful music from Great Falls MT here...from August 1983. KXLY was carried well into the state of Montana as ABC was not available full-time in western Montana. And I guess this taper preferred the ABC in PT time zone vs. local KFBB.

Him, and Bob Eubanks and Chuck Woolery, among those I remember.
