Steel City Media files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

First Cumulus, then iHeartMedia, now Steel City Media, who owns stations in or around Kansas City, MO, is now filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Not a big company, but it’s another Radio company filing for bankruptcy.

I think it should be pointed out that this bankruptcy does not involve their Pittsburgh, PA stations WLTJ and WRRK.

They (the Frischling family) also own two stations in Pittsburgh (hence the name Steel City) and formerly owned the Pittsburgh City Paper. The Pittsburgh subsidiary also filed for bankruptcy. Too much debt.

 

The Pittsburgh filing was separate from the KC filing- different corporate entity, same owners:
