KFMB Slow Death Thread

Ok,Ok...

As much as I bitch about Ch-8 they finally have done something that should have been done years ago.

They finally are digging into the archives and running "throwback" segments from as far as the 1970's.

Some of these segments are not really too "PC" for you sensitive and easily outraged types...but the segments are fun to watch.

Nice way for the tape archive editors to ensure job security?

They put up a youtube page. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMscWako8oDvpdF4pppku-g

So something is up with KFMB's graphics recently. First, they get rid of the flashing beacon behind the News 8 Logo. It was that way all weekend, and this morning. Then, it's back, and the whole L3 is visible during a commercial. Finally, I noticed a weird doubling-up of the L3 graphics, as visible in the included .gif.

Am I right to assume that they'll be utilizing the Tegna graphics soon? Either testing the new graphics has messed up their current ones, or somebody isn't paying attention.

Here's the L3 visible on a commercial:

Here's the doubling up bug:

I got a 503 Service Unavailable error on the image.

But, looks like the Tegnatization of KFMB has started.

Looks like KFMB is starting to use the modern Tegna graphics for a few things:

I can't find the job posting right now, but last week I saw an open position at KFMB for some kind of (commercial) traffic liason with WideOrbit experience a must. The posting also said correspondence with the traffic hub in Denver is part of the position, so that right there tells you its already moved out of house.

Also, does Tegna have a master control hub at KUSA?

No. TEGNA does not hub MC.

No. TEGNA does not hub MC.

Did they used to? WFMY and WTLV used to be network hubs for old Gannett. I know the former Belo stations aren't, with the exception of KHOU post-hurricane relocation.

Sabrina Fein (Formerly of XETV/KUSI) is also looking for work. I wonder how she'd feel working at the company that killed her station of nearly 6 years..

Sabrina's Resume:

With that Master's in Social Media degree, Tegna would love her. Plus she has an AMS seal of approval, which is nice.

Then again: With Kerri Lane, Amanda Shotsky, and Sabrina Fein, we almost have the XETV team back. Now we just need Lynda Martin. Say Lynda, there's a job posting for an anchor...

P.S. - Heather Myers also used to be at XETV.

They do hub MC, I don't know what you're talking about Conrad. I've seen their southeast hub at WTLV myself.

Oops!

P.S. Hopefully this image stays working.

I was never fond of the Monitor Wall length. I liked how they went wider though. It looked like a last minute add on since the Rear Projector was literally behind the monitor wall and a bit smaller. They could have at least raise the monitor a tad bit higher or add another row on top.

That is a big ass dish .

Question: Why the hell does it have the logo from years ago on it? They don't use that logo anymore.

This does not look like a DSNG-KU unit but only an IP-KU based unit. @rkolsen can you elaborate or provide some help for us? Is it only IP and Dejaro based? Am I missing something obvious here?
That would be the replacement for the old sat truck "Unit-8" in the fleet. This does not look like a DSNG-KU unit but only an IP-KU based unit. @rkolsen can you elaborate or provide some help for us? Is it only IP and Dejaro based? Am I missing something obvious here?
You have it right video can be sent as data either through the Ku band connection, through Dejero or Dejero using Ku solely or Dejero cell + Ku. Not sure if it replaced the old truck. What’s neat is that they included a Teradek system which allows wireless HD-SDI transmission back to base and transmitted through the above processes. Perfect for when your in a building or can’t park near the scene or in a crowd where a typical wireless CNG wouldn’t work. With the powersystem they could still transmit while the cars off.

This new Verify promo aired today. Looks like new graphics are coming soon.

P.S. - It doesn't look like they're going to change the News8 branding, at least any time soon.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

FINALLY. I know a lot of people on here hate Tegna, but I actually like them. They are not afraid to innovate and try new things. I can't wait for the new graphics and C Clarity to make it to San Diego!
