I really, really like that Spectrum News 1 theme. Really wish we had a Spectrum News channel here in Atlanta, but Comcast's iron grip on the region precludes this.

Yeah, that theme is really cool. It has a WBZ/WSBK 1994 feel to it when you listen to them side by side (link to the theme on NMSA: http://www.southernmedia-nmsa.com/#3,1,1060). Could this be a new theme rolling to the other Spectrum News stations?

Also, I have a question: Will Spectrum make the Spectrum News 1 available to other cable providers in Ohio (ie Armstrong, Buckeye, Massillon Cable TV, etc)?

Definitely not. Spectrum News 1 is advertised as a Spectrum exclusive.

News 1 in LA will likely launch next week on November 16th.

See that they posted that on their FB page after someone asked when.

Makes no sense to start on a Friday and less than one week before Thanksgiving.

Dumb.

And today they missed the biggest story in SoCal all year.

Spectrum News Wisconsin updates:

- Spectrum has a programming notice indicating that Spectrum Sports will go away "on or around December 31, 2018." I expect that's a conservative estimate, but I can't find anything definitive on a launch date.

- Brooke Brighton (twitter) and Kristin Ketchell (twitter) appear to be on-air meteorologists for Spectrum News Wisconsin, and Diane Irving (twitter) appears to be news director.

I can't wait to see what major station group tries to hop into bed with Spectrum News in cities where my local news presence may be weak.

Sinclair and Spectrum News anyone?

(But seriously folks...I'm just thinking out of my ass, but that would be so funny and all you tv purist would just poop giant garbanzo beans if that ever happend.)

Diane was the Assistant ND at WTMJ for years. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the other bigger profile WTMJ departures (i.e. George Mallett) from the past year follow her over.

I wish Spectrum can start expanding news all across Texas (DFW, Houston, Beaumont, Etc.) besides Austin and San Antonio. I wish it had a better chance to succeed than the long-gone TXCN.

I agree a Texas news network would be a good thing to have. Remember, tho, that Houston is a Comcast market. No Spectrum there.

Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo, Brownsville, Laredo, Waco, Bryan, Wichita Falls, Tyler, Victoria...

Basically, they need to try to get it on every cable system in the state -- and then actually cover those areas.
