Sad news in Chicago radio.

Longtime disc jockey and Radio Hall of Famer Herb Kent passed away Saturday night, at the age of 88.

A career that lasted seven decades, he started as a radio host on WBEZ at the age of 16. Over the years, he would go on to various radio stations in the city, including spending most of them at WVON, where he was one of the original DJs at the station. He would later join WVAZ in 1988.

Kent was hosting his radio show on WVAZ-FM (V-103) Saturday morning, which would end up being his final broadcast.

Condolences go out to his family and friends. Chicago lost a true legend. He will be sorely missed.

RIP Herb. :(
