Who's that VO?

Recommended Posts

Haven't heard his voice in news in 13 years.

Overall, Wells hasn't been heard on TV News since when KXII in Sherman/Ada switched to U-Phonix in 2015 and dropped Wells as the announcer and when I think of Wells I think of him as the announcer that was (in my John B. Wells voice) "Working in the Spirit of Texas."

Steve Stone..... I am familiar with that name! Must be a ringer, when it comes to hearing the voiceover, I must find out by hearing news opens to determine whether it is the same voiceover or a different one!

I have also heard him on the WXII 12 News opens during the 12, 4 and 5 o'clock newscasts, so it is possible that it might be Mr. Stone, but who will try to find more possible answers? Stay tuned for more answers!

UPDATE: It appears Mr. Stone is NOT the voiceover for WBTV, so it remains a mystery then!

John B. Wells is also recognized for his radio imaging work, mostly for rock stations (WEBN in Cincinnati being the most notable example; WMMS in Cleveland also used him in the late 90s/early 2000s).

He most recently has been a weekend talk radio host on the Coast to Coast AM franchise before branching out onto a late-night talk show of his own (he was actually fired from C2C for being too political on the paranormal-themed show).

How about this guy?

I think I've heard him on old clips from other stations too...

I know who this is. It's Doug Jeffers. You can go to http://www.dougjeffers.com/index.php/portfolio/promos and hear some of his work. I do remember his voice from a CompUSA commercial that aired in the 1990s.

This guy's name is Pat Feldbelle.

WITN recently posted video of their Hurricane relief fundraising tape from after Hurricane Floyd 20 years ago, and it sounds like the same voice who narrated that video also voiced that open.

Nice find!

He's voiced WITN since the early 90s. They used that other mystery voice for a while before reverting back to him on the opens.

Here he is in an open from 1998...

He still voices a lot of their promos while Charlie Van Dyke is on the opens.

Apologies, I might just have to resurrect this dead thread....

Who was that voiceover guy for WJAC around the early 2000s?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCNCm-m9Dbo&t=19s&app=desktop

You could also hear the same mystery voiceover guy on KRIV Fox 26's open in 1999:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G69p7V4eCkI

He also did VO work for WWOR UPN 9 in the early 2000s. (This is in 2001):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eYcYfqgc_Q&t=20s

The question: Who is this mystery voiceover guy that did plenty of work for a few stations (Cox, Chris-Craft, and Fox Television Stations)? Stay tuned! And again, apologies, if I have to resurrect this dead thread to help solve a mystery.

While he still isn't identified on any of his opens on the NMSA (WPXI and WSOC to name a few), TVNT favorite Bob Perry did have a news article written about him in 1981. He voiced several "Movie of the Week" promos for NBC and CBS. This should definitively confirm his identity after he was first identified a couple of years back on this forum.

I think he was a Cox VO client. WSB has him on their 1980 open, WHIO used him for promos back in the 1980s, of course there’s WPXI and WSOC, IDs for KCPQ and KTXL, and he also VO’ed WTOG.
