That Univision local news theme from the 90s

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know about the news theme that was used for Univision affiliates from the 90s?

Examples of usage:

http://uvideos.com/shows/los-angeles/fallece-jesus-javier-ex-periodista-de-univision-34 (Can be heard at the end of the video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvVuOFX5W3E (Skip to 5:25)

Why am I asking this? Maybe it's because I'm fascinated about Univision's local news stuff from the 90s. I want to find the theme in it's entirety.

Unfortunately, I don't have any leads.

KMEX at one point used a news theme done by San Francisco-based Scott Singer. This theme is listed in ASCAP. Unfortunately, Singer died in 2009 (he was 48).

Still no sound file to the theme. *Sigh*

There's really no telling what it could be, and the fact that Singer is no longer with us does not help at all. Plus, the 1990 theme find opens up new and unexpected possibilities, though ASCAP stuff *tends* to be from the 90s on.

Looking it up on the ASCAP rep, theres another entry WLTV News Theme by William Sanchez, which has made a lot of music for Univision... might be the theme we're looking for or it's predecessor which sounds alike... Clip of the 1989 theme:

Do you think other Univision stations in the late 80s used this theme?

I can't find clips of it from other stations, so it was probably just for WLTV, the "update" was the one that made it to the other O&Os. It's likely that both themes were made in-house at Univision, because it sounds a lot like most of the other Univision produced show themes from late 80s to mid 90s.
