Especially in Los Angeles, where there's local news at mostly every single hour, outside the overnight hours (except 10:30am, 2:00 and 11:35pm)

Sorry WSVNFan, saw your post after I typed my reply. Practically a duplicate post

LA is divided into three blocks on weekdays, two on weekends.

Weekdays has morning (4:00-10:30am), midday (11:00am-2:00pm) and afternoon/evening (3:00-11:35pm)

Weekends has morning (5:00-9:30am Saturdays, 5:00-11:00am Sundays) and afternoon/evening (4:00pm-12:00am)

LA is the most unique market in this country. Not even NYC has this many news, outside sports commitments and everything else, despite being #1 and LA being #2.

Meanwhile in Orlando, 9 still rules them all.

Save for News 6 (getting results) WKMG, once again riding high at 11 c/o CBS prime. And the obligatory Fox 35 wins during national morning news time and at 10pm.

Simply put, no seismic shake ups in Orlando.

I've never seen a station that has news on during the 1:00pm or 3:00pm hours, let alone both.

KSWB in San Diego has a 1 P.M. newscast and 7 P.M. and/or 11 P.M. has been rumored to debut this summer

Wait, really? Rumors about KSWB debuting either a 7 or 11pm newscast? It wouldn't be sorta big but I guess big enough to beef up KSWB's presence.

KSWB is run by KTLA's General Manager. He started the 1 pm newscast on KTLA in 2009 and does well. He subsequently launched the 1 pm years later on KSWB.

Not anymore. Some in-house guy at KSWB took over the GM position a few months ago. Shame, since Corsini pumped in a few resources into KSWB and increased the synergy/collaboration between both stations.

Boy, has KTBC fallen so far. I wonder what caused them to fall near KEYE's levels.

And KXAN has dethroned KVUE. Has been for quite a while. A surprise to some long-time Austin TV news viewers since KVUE was like THE news source in Austin for a long time.

WSB has a tremendous news organization, one of the best. WGCL's ratings are just pathetic. Sad!
All of Cox's stations do (particularly its ABC affiliates). And while WGCL's ratings still suck, 11Alive has contracted TEGNitis (which if you want to get an idea about what that is, see the most recent Out and About posts).

Let me break this down as only I can:

Despite those claims, WAGA still has the #1 late news from 10:00-midnight with 75,893 viewers vs. WSB's 70,659 (11:00 only).

WGCL, with Super Bowl 50 and this year's Grammys being on a Monday, fared pretty well in primetime, but the 52,340 wasn't enough to fend off WAGA for #2 (60,191; they had the X-Files reboot and the farewell season of American Idol is already helping them against Survivor (Wednesdays), the CBS Thursday comedies, and ABC's Shonda Rhimes trifecta). WXIA, on the other hand, finished dead last.

But the billboards I've been seeing from WGCL isn't luring viewers to their newscasts, while I feel that WXIA has been doing better investigative stories lately than the other three (Fox 5 has yet to do an hour-long I-Team special).

The numbers for Fox 5's "News Edge" continue to increase from 39,060 (October) to 52,340, though they're still tight-lipped about Stephany Fisher joining Tom Haynes at the anchor desk. Maybe by May, we'll know.

I, for one, would like to see Boston's numbers; I bet WCVB's has doubled with the addition of Maria Stephanos!

Wait till July and you'll see that WCVB has really doubled under Maria. February won't show it because she just joined in February so wait until July and you'll see the amazing difference.
