I know they got rid of that a few years ago in Philadelphia. ABC also got rid of the 24 hour AccuWeather channel as well.

These are the names in Philly:

KYW: Eyewitness Weather

WPVI: AccuWeather

WCAU: First Alert Weather

WTXF: The Weather Authority

Who said this should be a station branding thread? It was a simple question.

#whendidlistthreadsstopbeingdiscouraged?

I know, right? I'm guilty of doing this but I'll bring it back on-topic.

As far as I'm concerned, KPNX still uses it and so does WJXX. Yes, WJXX - ABC is broadcasting the local weather channel under "First Coast News Weather Plus."

Those are the only two, IMO, that still use it for a 24/7 local weather channel.

Not that I know of at least in Oklahoma City now the brands they go by:

KOKH: StormWatch

KWTV doesn't have a Weather brand other than just News 9 Weather.

None of these are WeatherPLUS brands, so there's no reason to post them in this thread.......

I know. To be fair, I did say I'm guilty of doing so but I tried to bring the topic back to normal by saying KPNX and WJXX.

At times we all get caught up in TV News Land with the branding and other things. We did it, and the world hasn't ended. I don't see what the big deal is in my book. It's what it's. No harm, no malice, but whatevs.

I know that WNYW is NY Weather Authority. WCBS doesn't have a branding.

"KBEX Skippy Peanut Butter Weather"

I can see the script now:

"Tonight's weather brought to you by Skippy Peanut Butter.... and just like a good spoonful of Skippy, clouds will be spreading across the area tonight..."

I mentioned this in the shout box but it looks like WBAL is dropping their InstaWeather + branding. They just aired a PoP promo featuring their coverage of the flash flooding, severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings (one was confirmed) yesterday afternoon. They used an oversized version of their chyron where the descriptive banner said "WBAL-TV 11 Weather". The branding was further reinforced by voice over and at the very end a graphic animation showing their horizontal logo and generic weather text.

I noticed a few months ago that their weather app's badge just had their logo and weather but thought it was just something the hub did and pushed out.

I must say I'm a bit confused by this - the weather team is great and they are a top news station. I think they've branded it this way for 20+ years.
