lolno. Look at CTV, then look again at their programming. The name itself is already a contradiction.

It's funny you bring up CTV. Everyone assumes that it stands for "Canadian TeleVision," but in actuality, that isn't the case. CTV really doesn't stand for anything.

CTV does actually stand for Canadian Television though. It's prior name, Canadian Television Network, derived from that.

The Toronto Star received an internal email that confirms that this was a move to ditch the union and debt inherited from Canwest.

One interesting item from the article: "Under Ontario law, businesses must honour existing collective agreements when they take over a company unless they dramatically change the nature of the work being performed."

CHCH is already starting to re-expand out their Morning Live programme. Now it's on from 6am to 10am. Plus of course the 6pm Evening News hour, and the half hour 11pm bulletin. That makes 27.5 hours on weekdays, but still 0 hours on the weekend, which is odd.

Here's some stats CHCH released pertaining it's operations:

  • In 2014 CHCH recorded an operating loss of almost $2,000,000.
  • Between 2014 to 2015 revenues at CHCH declined by $10,156,232.
  • Last year, the loss at CHCH grew to over $4,000,000.
  • By autumn 2015, CHCH was losing over $130,000 each week. This situation could not be sustained.
  • Post restructuring, CHCH delivers three times the minimum requirement, broadcasting 22.5 hours of original local news each week. CHCH’s broadcast license requires it to air just 7 hours of local programming each week.
