I know CBC/SRC is in dire fiscal straits due to government-mandated budget cuts, but selling off all the production and broadcast facilities? Some of the BBC's bigger properties in England are leased. The BBC sold their iconic Television Center to a developer and in a years time they are going to rent three studios. They sold Broadcasting House to finance it's renovation and they will lease it for 21 more years after which I believe they will own it out right. They also lease a a large production hub in Salford where non news radio output, BBC Breakfast, BBC Sport, their children's channels and other productions are based out of.
