Marvin Dillweed 73
The broadcast division gets a new name. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/04/21/gannett-changes-name-to-tegna/26127343/ http://www.newscaststudio.com/2015/04/21/gannett-names-it-broadcast-spinoff-tegna-for-some-reason/
trev57 46
Am I the only one who thinks that's a terrible name? You accidentally flip the N and the G around in a Google search and you get a very different result...
channel2 869
No, a lot of people think it's a bad name. Like I said in the Gannett general thread, it sounds like the sort of name a scandal-ridden insurance company would adopt after their scandal blew over. TheRolyPoly 1839
They should've kept Gannett as the name for Broadcasting and Digital with Tegna for Publishing because... Who will recognize Tegna? Probably nobody in the beginning.
Journalist 893
What kind of name is that? Rather rename the company to This Is Home, Inc. compared to this pile of crap.
Rusty Muck 4139
Because it would be silly to reuse either the "Multimedia," "Combined" or "Pacific and Southern" names.

Breaking News 794
Who the f*** came up with that bogus name? I mean there many names under that company umbrella they could go by. USA Today digital news service Inc Gannett Media Holdings Inc, Gannett Television Broadcasting Gannett Services Gannett Digital Media All the stations in the company could be; WXIA-TV copyright 2015 a division of Gannett Television Anything but Tegna which sounds like a car that Toyota will debut in 2017. tyrannical bastard 3410
Why is the television company getting the crappy name? Conventional logic and other deals have stuck the new name on the sinking ship that is their print division. At least in the selloff of the Washington Post, the family owner name "Graham" was kept for the remaining holdings.

NEOMatrix 1295
Hell, they could've used Sander Media. Tegna sounds like one of those ED pills.
tyrannical bastard 3410
If you think about it, the name "Multimedia" was way ahead of its time. They disappeared into Gannett just as the World Wide Web was creeping into our lives. Seeing as how diversified the industry has become between interactive and traditional media...it makes sense. William1111 41
Tegna sounds like the Sega knockoffs found on ebay and Chinese stores...

skbl17 188
Dumbest name ever. Sounds like a new card game from Hasbro, not a broadcast company.
Rusty Muck 4139
Tegna sounds like one of those ED pills. Transpose the N and G in a Google search, and the results aren't that far off.

ABC 7 Denver 1547
This could get interesting if they keep "It's all within reach......" Only if you flip the G and N.
mardek1995 200
Because it would be silly to reuse either the "Multimedia," "Combined" or "Pacific and Southern" names. Or even Belo in this case.... It's actually not as silly as y'all might think. Sometimes it makes sense. For example, if Hearst Corp. were to split, its digital media arm would be called "Argyle Television Holdings III" as there have already been 2 predecessor companies of Hearst by nearly the same name. TexasTVNews 1365
Why can't they just called it Gannett Broadcasting Company or Gannett Media Group instead of Tegna.
