Message added by Weeters,

Thread Note: Since Scripps has indicated they intend to run ION Media as a separate entity from their existing (mostly) news-producing stations, ION discussion has been relocated to a new thread.

Job postings indicate KNXV is about to extend its morning news onto KASW. An AM news/traffic anchor and an AM anchor/meteorologist are being sought, as well as a News Producer/Content Planner, all with job postings that mention "The CW61 Arizona". h/t formeraa

The CW61 Arizona, in Phoenix, is seeking a talented News Anchor, who can also work as a Traffic Anchor to join our morning team. The morning Anchor has dual responsibilities for preparing and delivering news reports and for preparing and presenting traffic reports in our newscasts.

Are they looking for anybody at 9pm too or are they planning to use the main evening anchor team at 9pm on KASW?

Scripps gets nailed with a $1.13 million fine from the FCC in an investigation from the ex-Cordillera stations over tower lighting and maintenance at 10 facilities in 5 states. Cordillera also had failed to notify the FCC of its purchase of two antenna structures.

Under an agreement with the Enforcement Bureau, Scripps has not only agreed to pay the $1.13 million fine but also implement a five-year compliance plan that will include employee training across the entire company, the appointment of a compliance officer to keep tabs on its towers, and filing of a series of reports detailing how it is complying with the consent decree. Harold said in the order that after reviewing the facts of the case, she concluded it would be in the best interest of the FCC to settle the case – in part because Scripps agreed to take responsibility for the violations that predated its ownership of the stations.

When Scripps bought Cordillera’s 15 stations for $521 million two years ago, it also inherited the outstanding investigation.

Seems kind of messed up that Scripps has to pay for Cordillera's failings, but I guess they assume Scripps surely would have been aware of the state of the towers of the stations they were buying? And that two towers were bought without the FCC ever knowing? That or since there isn't a Cordillera to fine anymore...

That's normal in the course of business when you buy a company. Scripps also seems like it wanted to settle the matter quickly. Reading the consent decree, this one started when an aircraft hit the KATC-owned tower in Kaplan, Louisiana (which was home to an LPB transmitter and KAJN-FM).

PIX has been using the new website design since December.

Scripps has converted all the websites of the stations they acquired from Tribune/Nexstar. Tegna has not converted any of their acquisitions while Nexstar has only converted WGNO.

Super late to this, but morning news in Phoenix is about to be as crowded as it is in Orlando and San Diego.

KIVI will begin producing separate local newscasts for its Twin Falls repeater KSAW-LD, starting Monday (April 13). KIVI/KNIN anchor Roland Berres and chief meteorologist Scott Dorval will helm the weeknight 5:30 and 10:00 broadcasts, which will feature three multimedia journalists based in Twin Falls conducting local field reports. (KSAW currently airs a simulcast of KIVI’s 5:00 p.m. newscast, World News Tonight at 5:30 [which will likely replace the 5:00 news from Boise, if not move to 6:00] and a double run of The Big Bang Theory at 6:00.) KIVI’s Good Morning Idaho, and its weekend 5:30 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts will continue to be simulcast on KSAW.

In San Diego, KGTV (5:00-7:00 + 8:00-9:00 a.m.), KNSD (7:00-8:00 a.m.) and KUSI (6:00-11:00 a.m.) have weekend morning news.

I'm surprised too. But I think KSWB will get it before KFMB ever does.

Wow KUSI until 11am. I’m impressed lol

i grew up watching Rory and Bill on the weekends from 8-9, so it’s nice to see KGTV and KNSD brought back the weekend morning newscasts.

KGTV follows KGO’s schedule (5-7am) but they recently changed their Saturday morning schedule from 8 am to 9am now so on the weekends is 9-10am

Some Wall Street analyst is completely blind it sounds like - after all, it appears Scripps is one of the healthier companies right now.

Kudos to Scripps' CEO. He seemed pretty taken aback at the notion.
