Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion

Does Sinclair even try to promote their ARC branding?  Or is it just a name for their stripped CW affiliates?

The name and what they say it stands for is just a byproduct of soulless committee thinking.

It doesn't help that there are still many ARC community organizations across the country (still known as such) that deal with the developmentally disabled. (the "R" referring to an obsolete term for these individuals, their acronym still exists though.)

It's still just one YouTube playlist on KOMO's YouTube channel three months later, and they still have no website. I wouldn't be shocked if KUNS gets a traditional "CW 51 Seattle" branding come fall and ARC WM quietly goes away after the next Xfinity negotiation cycle, and ARC stands for 'Almost Ready to Close' here. It's also telling that it hasn't been launched outside those markets because other Arc organizations have pre-emptively stopped them from doing so after these two launches.

I think they will do with KING5 does it doesn’t give their second station its own online. They do list KUNS schedule in their live section

Yeah, surprised that Sinclair even has a website for ARC WM it is just news from WWMT should just show the schedule with the main channel only doesn't need a website in my opinion. Looks like what Nexstar does with WOTV & now the new CW under more on the wood TV website with the info and that video with what will be on The CW tonight and the other 7 nights of primetime.

It is replacing ThisTV which replaced LAFF.  Looked at my program guide, repeats of Chips, CSI and L&O:Criminal Intent just doesn't seem an attractive proposition.  All can be found elsewhere.

This includes WPVI-TV, whose OTA signal, stuck as it is on low VHF 6, has been difficult to watch since the digital transition.

And they put the Charge! Network on WTVD and KFSN. Sinclair forgot they even own stations there.

Why haven't they remapped the PSIP to a UHF signal? It's the Deleware Valley for crying out loud and cable is dying. Fewer people will be watching PVI if they aren't subscribed to cable and can't watch OTA. Even Comcast knows this basic.

Do they even have the legal ability to do that?

Sincalir WWMT DT3 was Comnet when it first launched in West Michigan in 2015 then in 2021 Comnet moved to WXSP DT3 after Scripps took all the Diginets in house on Sep 1 2021. WWMT DT3 became TBD they never put Charged on WWMT subchannel was on WXMI DT4 for a couple of years and was dropped for GetTV in Feb 2021, as Nexstar decided to take Dabl for WOTV DT2 now DT4 as GetTV was on WOTV before it was moved to WXMI Fox17 DT5. Just like the Stadium/Nest being WXSP DT2  last year over Cozi TV.

Because Disney only treats WPVI as a budget line item that generates a boatload of money in revenue without any effort. Disney is only focused on Disney+ and the soulless meat packing plant that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's it.

Couldnt they put it on their Raleigh stations WLFL/WRDC that’s a duopoly and Fresno KMPH/KFRE that a duopoly there yet they wanted to put it on 2 ABC O&Os in the same respective station essentially they’re paying the competition.

They have soup olives in Raleigh and Fresno why would they put it in a competing station in their respective cities.

Poor WPVI, despite the first place rating, people in Philly can't get the station because it's an VHF digital station (on Ch. 6) while it's competitors are Digital UHF stations (Virtual Channels don't particularly count)

If Disney just putting an translator on Philly, that'll be better.

They’ve lost their minds at Sinclair.

Yea, how much times will they have to mess up their TV stations before the FCC catches the idea? I mean, ending news departments, making KTUL and KOKH's newscast basically almost the same thing. Yet 'PIX is the problem?

The Federal Communications Commission, they JUST DELETED LOCAL NEWS at WNWO in Toledo and STILL did nothing about KDNL, is you not understanding what's going on?

...all while you have an anchor from "Greensboro" on WXLV bragging on how their news comes from San Antonio!

How many other half-news departments are there?  WPMI essentially simulcasts WEAR on the weekends.  Both stations are worse off now that WEAR has to water down there coverage to cover Mobile as well.

The only reason they put WLS on UHF (their only one there outside KFSN) was because Chicago is truly OTA heavy and they had to do anything to do so because they were in the same boat as WBBM, and at least as a very last resort you can get WABC/KABC waivered on satellite.

As the sign in Wells Fargo Center says, Philadelphia is "Comcast Country" and there's a back-rub relationship to drive viewers there rather than trying to get them to watch over-the-air on that cruddy signal. For now at least you can get it on UHF through ATSC3 through WPSG, and since its in 1080p that's how you should get it anyways. But agreed, the subs they have are just needless noise and ABC should just send Localish to Internet-only at this point and relaunch weather stations.

In Chicago, WMEU-CD has an UHF simulcast of WBBM because of the fact CBS knows that some areas of Chicago wasn't able to get the VHF signal.

Not anymore, since WBBM upgraded their signal.

Huh, I didn't know that. I guess I was off.

Update: The WMEU-CD  simulcast is still there.

Edited by mer764KCTV5
There's still an simulcast of WBBM on WMEU-CD, I think.
