Weekday evenings from 5-6pm, WTHR’s 9.4 rating equals the ratings of all three competitors combined, with an 18% ratings jump. Similarly, at 6pm, WTHR’s weekday audience was larger than all other 6pm local news competitors combined. WTHR’s 6pm news earned a 10.9 rating, beating the combined ratings of WISH (3.9), WRTV (3.9) and WXIN (1.8).

During late news 13 Eyewitness News Nighbeat, with a 7.4 rating (M-F), was the only 11pm newscast to earn year-to-year audience growth with a 9% increase in ratings. Both WISH-TV and WRTV suffered year-to-year ratings declines, with WISH-TV down 15% and WRTV down 29%.

Also in May, WTHR finished as the most-watched station in Central Indiana by a wide margin, garnering a 5.1 rating Monday through Sunday (6am- 2am), a 13% increase from a year ago. No other local broadcast station experienced year-to-year growth.
