ABC 7 Denver 1552
That's not a knockoff. That's the real package. They just don't have Gotham installed on their CG machines. WNEM is the real deal? No!! No it isn't.
TennTV1983 742
That's NOT the real package. Looking at that now, the poorly-done transitional elements and animation are a dead giveaway of a mock-up compared to the original Linear Drift version.

MidwestTV 1173
That's NOT the real package. It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day?
ABC 7 Denver 1552
It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day? Because the roll out isn't complete.
MidwestTV 1173
Because the roll out isn't complete. And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse.
Info Junkie 1285
I’m guessing WBOC used the KMTV/KRIS Giant Octopus package and later kept butchering it...
TheRolyPoly 1844
I’m guessing WBOC used the KMTV/KRIS Giant Octopus package and later kept butchering it... But for a market that size, WBOC makes it look good.
ABC 7 Denver 1552
And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse. There are a LOT of things to coordinate!
Ntropolis 593
And how hard is it to fly a drone or something to shoot footage at night? That seems like a lazy excuse. Part 107 FAA regulations state you need a waiver to fly past 30 minutes of civil twilight (30 minutes past sunset). So it’s not crazy impossible, just a little tougher than doing some quick shots with a drone at night. You can always do a nighttime timelapse on the ground... that would look cool

MikePulse 315
Who cares? I've seen tons of old late news opens that use daytime shots. WKMG uses their daytime shots for the weeknight talent opens. (Though they have proper nighttime shots for the weekends)

Info Junkie 1285
You know what I just realized?! WNEM’s 2014 opens are really a knockoff of WFSB’s! Add to that the awful Scripps L3’s.

These are derived from WRAL’s graphics that came out eons ago and eventually updated & used until 2016. I forget who did them... Info Junkie 1285
This isn’t really a bad open graphics-wise, but when you use the voice of tabloid TV news alongside a very mellow-sounding news theme, you get a very mis-matched news open. Hubbard would later make more bad choices for their TV stations’ imaging in the years to come:

T.L. Hughes 746
A KSDK promo from 1997. Strange that what was then a Gannett station used a modified version of the Hearst "Camera" package, and a logo animation similar to what those stations used at that time in this promo.
