Any idea as to who did the KING 1990 News Theme?, I know Dan Dean did a number of themes for KING-TV for a couple of years (Evening Magazine, Almost Live! (which is considered to be a local Seattle version of Saturday Night Live) etc...)

https://www.dandeanmusic.com/king-tv-music-comp-for-site/

Let's not forget Dan Dean also did news themes for KIRO (CBS 7) and KOMO ABC 4).

What Jerome Gilmer was for Denver and KCNC, Dan Dean was for Seattle and all three major network affiliates. In-town composers who did theme music for local news themes and image packages in the same city.

Dan was thoughtful enough to post some cuts of his KOMO work in high fidelity on his site - both the funky mid 80s theme and the orchestral theme from 1987

Also a bunch of KING work here

That's the same link I've posted on the earlier comment (sans KOMO-TV)

WJBK 2 Together with the Look of Detroit

WPIX 11 Alive with the Look of New York

I wonder if these were Peters Productions doing. Because # Alive and # Together seem like concepts conceived by Peters Productions. As for WPIX version, where does the Marketing Deli fit into all this?

Both of those are confirmed Peters. That "Marketing Deli" account has it in a playlist that says

J Hal Hodgson, Creative Partner at The Marketing Deli, has produced over a thousand musical themes (jingles) for use with radio and TV, winning dozens of awards in national and regional advertising creative competitions.

But what are these... (The first one is KPDX Portland's launch campaign, and it sounds like KTXL might have used a piece of it — they were sisters, the station ID in their 1986 open seems to come from it... which raises a question or ten about KDVR using this too)

There's a WSVN campaign of some sort:

If you look at the folder, there's a "KPPL-TV" which is actually KPPL radio (107.5/Denver).

Hodgson's bio says "Hodgson & Associations, San Diego, since 1973; president, Aloha Prodns., San Diego, since 1980."

WCKT is in the Peters client list. KPDX? Nope.

KTXL sure did use it:

Any idea as to who did the WHP/KLBK News Theme? (NMSA lists it as "KLBK 1996"), It was also being used on KNOE Monroe and KNAZ Flagstaff/Northern AZ (until they replaced it with Non-Stop's Power News in 1999).

It is Stephen Arnold!

It is very clearly from a production library. Maybe Killer Tracks? Compare to the PRISM Sports logo on

EDIT: KT31-15 "Zap Ya" https://www.universalproductionmusic.com/en-us/discover/albums/589/sweepers-and-stingers-volume-1

They've added some of the stings from Dawn (track 37) for WBNS...not sure if that was a separate edit.

Thanks to Samantha for ID'ing the "WBNS 1994 News Theme" used from December 1993 to sometime in 1996, as it appears another short lived theme replaced it before the June 1996 new Gari music.

It appears the theme used in particular this KFMB 4:30pm news open circa 1992 and let's face it THE MUSIC for some local car commercials in the 90s featuring a bombastic/screeching voiceover is identified. It is from Firstcom. It is updated at NMSA.

Track: Knockout

Album: FC-A2 Intense

According to the NMSA, the music used by KGTV & KMGH in the 1970's is a production track called "Home Run" by KPM. The music was sped up by 125%.

Holy cow is it glorious!

In the 90s? It's STILL being used by car dealers 😂 I've heard some dealership in Florence or Conway, SC using it on radio spots in the past couple years

Pinnacle was formed by Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon when they left Non-Stop Music. It composed KSL/KSFY 1998. Lenhart is credited with no other news themes, but he composed a backing track for the Children's Miracle Network telethons run in recent years and composed for various video games on which Bestor and Cardon were involved. I suspect this is the 1998 theme.

Actually the KSL 1998 theme debuted in January 1997 when they received new graphics. Although it was done by Pinnacle, it still used the logo from Non-Stop's "Broadcast News" (KSL version).

Did not know that, probably simply because we didn't have a lot of KSL from that era (and I believe we are still missing an open generation from 1992–93).
