The 2014 NY Emmy Award nominations have been announced.

Oddly, despite general agreement that their broadcast is pretty awful, WPIX comes out on top in number of nominations of all the broadcast news channels.

I think the main reason WPIX won so many nominations is because of their very talented reporters. Jay Dow, Ann Mercogliano, James Ford, Magee Hickey, Marvin Scott, Mario Diaz, Allison Kaden, and Mary Murphy in my view are excellent talent and deserve to be rewarded. If there was a contest for who has the best management WPIX would be dead last.

They nominated themselves the most. Local Emmys mean nothing. Any reporter or producer or station can nominate themselves. Notice all but one of the nominees for best morning newscast come from the same station. Bill Evans once won the Emmy for best anchor... And this was back in the days of Bill Beutel.
