I'm still confused in the aspect of their move to Time Square, aren't they in the old TRL space, why isn't part of the set designed with actual views of their new neighborhood? Visually, you really don't know that they are in Time Square, it sort of defeats the purpose of the move if there are no windows to look at. 🤔

I think some may be putting too much emphasis on the move to TS, the views, etc... Let's be honest, having views wasn't going to change anything for them. The move to TS made sense to fully utilize under-utilized space (the new Daily Show studio/office is there too). It would be a different story if the studio was at street level.

I question if no Gayle would help the ratings. Alot of tv news viewing is about who's reporting the story as much as it's about the story itself. Gayle King (especially being Oprah's best friend) has name recognition, as did Charlie Rose. Now they were still in third despite two recognizable media personalities, but I wonder if CBS This Morning would have made it this far without them.

CBS Saturday Morning has a great team and good story choice. I'd say it deserves be #1 on Saturdays, though I do enjoy Weekend GMA more than tit's weekday counterpart.

I agree with the comment about Saturday Today. It's time slot shifts too often while Weekend GMA is always on at 8am ET. As for Sunday Today has some good stories but it feels like contrived effort at mirroring CBS Sunday Mornings.

The Mick Mulvaney hiring is proving to be quite the issue at CBS News. Co-President Neeraj Khemlani said hiring Mulvaney would help CBS get access to the republicans if/when they take back the U.S House this Fall. People don’t seem to happy about the hiring, especially over certain actions of his while in office.

I find it interesting that Anne-Marie Green didn’t mention what administration he worked for,  introducing him as “a former Office of Management and Budget director”.

I don’t want this to turn political so please don’t make it that, I know the story as a whole is but I’m trying to focus on the impact it has at CBS News and it’s already lackluster image.

Placing this in the Mornings thread since that’s where the conversation reportedly happened.

Honestly, it should be concerning to CBS management that Kemlani seems to be on the wrong side of the headlines quite frequently -- from trying to get Norah O'Donnell out of the Evening News and now this-- this can't be a good look for CBS.

I wonder way the Saturday morning show is using the old desk this morning?

It appears to be the same desk just with a different base, specifically the base from the “What to Watch” table.

Honestly CBSM is already a hodepodge, the set "update" does not help either, flip flopping music, pretending viewers want to wake up to a giant Pizza Hut ad, honestly CBS was it all worth it to get rid of CTM?

And for those who will bring up CBS News Streaming, Studio 1515 would have been just fine for them with minor updates to the 2020 Election set.

Not usually around a TV during the morning news- but some time off this week gives me the opportunity. Landed on CBS Mornings.

Wasn't the whole point of this show to "put the news back in morning news" and differentiate themselves from Today and GMA? The time I spent watching was just a store-brand version of the other two shows- Same gossipy host-chat, "CBS Morning Deals" giving some paid-placement to product no one really needs, using songs like "Bye Bye Bye" as the closing bumper music, and that was just the 15-20 minutes that I caught.

I feel when the show was still CTM before moving to Times Square, they had a solid, and reasonably unique product, despite still being in third place- what happened?

I personally like CBS Mornings more than CTM. The flow is better and it's less boring... it feels fresh and less stuffy.

That was when CBS This Morning launched nearly 11 years ago. They slowly moved away from that with more celebrity interviews. I think one reason they relaunched it as "CBS Mornings" was to signal that they were no longer as heavily focused on hard news. It's softer like CBS News Sunday Morning.

I'm not a fan. And I still don't understand the purpose of putting them in Times Square if they're not going to use a real window or make use of the location.

The hard sell of "CBS Deals" is really not helping. It's enough when your local advertorial show is doing it, but when a national morning show is pushing Wish refuse, it's absolutely intolerable. It might be making some money, but it's doing cheap and dirty damage to a brand that certainly doesn't need more.

CBS Mornings is just a toned down rip off of Good Morning America at this point, right down to the talent selection and their professional and personal backgrounds.

A warm, charismatic, 60-something Black woman, a hard news guy with a long European name and a great head of hair, and a cool, younger, former NFL player who also appears on a Sunday morning football panel show, all broadcasting from Times Square, in a studio with gaudy exterior signage, but seemingly doesn't like showing off the iconic views.

Don't know where you got the idea that they're ripping off GMA. 😉

Why did CTM have FOUR anchors at one time and did that sink the show?

Probably Bianca Goldiryga is okay, but I couldn't see her prominently, be a fixture. Maybe if Jeff Glor could've been good there number #1 one Saturday mornings. That could've been a okay not so bad demotion, from CBS Evening News.

I'll tell you one thing about Nate Burleson. Paramount is really using him good in this synergy. Maybe because he's very talented, or maybe because there's something else I don't know about. Expect him to host Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards this year.

Technical problems caused CBS Mornings to be from Studio 57 instead of the traditional 1515.2070115894_CBSNY01.ts_snapshot_02_23_084.thumb.jpg.8a293714d012057f63ca7aa0bab7bf84.jpg1698325447_CBSNY01.ts_snapshot_02_41_645.thumb.jpg.a9db0807eecba3ef9f34facb4c2aa1c5.jpg1310943012_CBSNY01.ts_snapshot_04_35_842.thumb.jpg.2fd9c17c0b6ebce3b1c23d57bf689946.jpg

To this day, their move to Time Square has been pointless. If you're a new viewer to the show, you would have no idea that they were broadcasting at "the crossroads of the world". They would have saved so much money if they stayed at Studio 57.

Maybe I'm late to this, but there's been a proposal to turn the base of 1515 Broadway (where CBS Mornings originates) into a casino. Who knows whether this would ultimately happen, but it does make me question whether Paramount will keep CBS there long-term.

I believe there's an ordinance or some other requirement that every building in Times Square be flashy or have some sort of prominent use. I think Viacom got away with it during the TRL days because that show would spill big crowds into the street, but the way that studio space is currently used certainly isn't flashy or anything to keep people lingering.
