Jim Gardner did a preview at 10:29 and 10:49 tonight for the 11pm news, but the 10:59 tease and actual news were handled/anchored by Monica Malpass. Do they prerecord previews after the 6pm news? Otherwise sounds like Jim might have had an emergency to tend to.

Is the 10:59 tease live or recorded and what time does the WPHL show end? I heard they use different control rooms so the 11PM team can get ready during the 10pm.

PHL is wrapped at 10:57. The tease at 10:59 is live.

So every Friday Melissa Magee “fills in” for David Murphy doing weather at noon, but today Cecily filled in at noon, and now Melissa Magee is filling in for her at 11pm.  I haven’t seen Cecily on the noon since she got promoted to evenings.

Speaking of the noon newscast on Fridays, why don’t they just change the opening to drop Sarah and David, keep Rick, and add Melissa? Ever since Sarah was added to Sunday evenings, Sarah has been off Fridays, and Melissa has filled in for David.

She and Melissa probably worked out a deal that she’d work 12pm if Melissa would fill in at 11pm on Friday night.

Another thing I noticed is that Sharrie Williams has been off all week except oddly she filled in for Monica @ 5pm on Thursday. Then was off again on Friday.

Maybe a case of the anchors tryna use as much of their vacation time as possible as the year is almost finished

Jim Gardner had him at the desk during the 6PM tonight.  They played a highlight reel and spoke about life and politics.

A fan on twitter posted a throwback picture of Jim Gardner, Vernon, Marc Howard, Jim O'Brien, and Jimmy Carter.

When did Action News start airing at 4am?  I noticed they start at 4:00 now with ABC's America This Morning now at 3:30am.

Watched the beginning of Action News at Noon today with Alicia filling in (solo) for Rick and Sarah. I walked away for a bit, and when I returned at 12:30 Ali Gorman was anchoring. Wonder if it was planned that way, or if Alicia had to step away for something.

Damn, I wish I watched that; Would've been odd but fascinating. This reminds me of when Anita Brikman once filled in for Rob Jennings over a decade ago.

Anita Brikman used to fill in a lot for various people.  Didn't she anchor weekend mornings with Scott Palmer?  And when Rick and Monica moved to 5 PM, Scott and Anita filled in for them until they got Matt and Sarah, then Tamala

With this latest winter storm, I really enjoy reading Chris Sowers' facebook and twitter updates. Personally, I'd like to see him on the weekday morning spot

I don't know. I was a kid back then. Cartoons mattered to me at those tines.

Rick usually anchors solo at noon on Fridays as Sarah is off. Not today, Christie Ileto sat alongside him!

One thing I noticed during a timelapse of their studio construction is that they have a jib in the air? I’m curious are there any tracking or sweeping movement shots used in their newscast? The only thing I ever really see is a shot of the monitor in the up in the grid.

You can see it here around 4:35.

They use it for bump outs to commercial and for some tosses to the weather/stand up areas.
