TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

Apparently there's a 19 day arts festival in Grand Rapids Michigan. So WZZM asked a local art college, Kendall College of Art and Design at Ferris State University to come up with their newsdesk for the event. The news desk will be used for their coverage from the art festival. The desk is made up from reclaimed materials and has a circular theme. The items featured on the desk represent various industries from Grand Rapids and Michigan as a whole There are many beer bottles (wonder if they were donated or just came from the dorms) as a homage to the many draft breweries in the area. Let's just say that it's unique:

I half-expected to see Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor and Al Borland behind the anchor desk.

I recall TEGNA had a similar meeting with morning show managers last year. I don't think anything came of it. If you're a top-rated TEGNA station making money, I'm not sure why you would want to fix what isn't broken.

Because they hire a bunch of "forward thinkers" who are cost driven as opposed to ratings and content driven.

So as stupid as it sounds, it's correct to assume they are willing to spend money...to lose money.

Tinker with shit...and play around with free social media content while you figure out you have lost an entire generation of viewers to Facebook....that took you 30 years to cultivate.

They are morons Rob.

KCRA has been #1 in Sacramento by a monolithic margin since like the 1950s. There's no way Tegna will put a dent in that no matter what they do.

I'm pretty sure if KXTV would run Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver reruns at 5, 6 and 11 instead of news they'd pull in better numbers.

Hell, KXTV can't even touch KOVR/KMAX.

Another story about what TEGNA doing now this time Channel 10 in Sacramento. Good Luck, Channel 10! Let see if this works.

http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2016/10/19/tegna-to-launch-new-strategy-today-in-sacramento

I watched this train wreck Friday night 10/21 called "Late News Tonight". (Disclaimer: I haven't watched KXTV in like forever) Looks as if they ditched the studio for the remodeled newsroom (pardon me, "Information Center" lol) and Mendonsa was anchoring by herself. Some anchor segments looked pre-recorded and a severely disjointed moment came when there was a breaking news segment about comedian Kevin Meaney's death and they tossed to a .com desk. They jumped to a commercial break just as the .com anchorette (who also can't read a tweet worth a damn; she butchered it) was about finish up on Meaneys death. Looked like automation gone awry. The opening they use doesn't even use local shots of the Sacramento area, it all looks like stock photos of some other cities skyline and freeways. It looks hilarious. So bad that I think the average viewer will actually notice it! I bailed out after about ten minutes into it... it seemed like I wasn't getting any of the important news of the day. All fluff and BS.

How many on this forum wants to see Joel Cheatwood outta KXTV?

Are you kidding me?

I got money, and a case of sea lion steaks on this whole fiasco.

The Vegas over/ under has Larry Perret being name as Co-ND by the end of the week.

Sacto is a good market for Joel...cuz when this format goes shitside he can just blame the Uber-KCRA for his failure.

Consider it Joel's Pre-Nup.

...e dup pe dup dup.
