TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

ABC 7 Denver

Recommended Posts

One thing I’ve noticed with TEGNA is not afraid to send their reporters on long stories. Mike Valerio of WUSA was on a 24 hour flight to Tarawa, a remote pacific island, on bringing buried WWII soldiers home. It’s not his first trip there either. I think he’s made two others. Apparently he’s their chief International investigative journalist.

NBCUniversal and TEGNA sent reporters to Pyeongchang, South Korea recently. It’s not unusual for stations to send reporters on overseas assignments.

Yes but those are special high profile events. This is an essentially local only project.

I always wondered what the arrangement with KTTU (KMSB's Duopoly partner) became? Does Tegna still have ties to them or is that all Raycom at this point?

I think it's a mix of both TEGNA having ties to KTTU/KMSB and the fact that Raycom operates it.

It's an indicator that KMSB/KTTU is a Raycom station, for the most part while KOLD is a TEGNA station, for the most part

I think every Tegna station has the new layout.

This occurred recently. It wasn't there last week. My parents live in the area, so I check out the website to see what their weather is like, and to make sure that they haven't been thrown in jail.

KFMB is still world now and copyrighting Midwest TV for now.

They DID yank the jobs page on the KFMB site.

I wonder how they're going to handle the two KFMB stations websites? Do you think they'll keep two different sites for CBS/CW, or do you think they'll lump it into the same site?

Tegna still doesn't have control of the domains (Still in station hands), so I expect it to take a while for a new site.

https://www.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?domain=thecwsandiego.com

KFMB owns News8SD.com, I wonder if they'll use that domain?

Quote from the KFMB stations...

"The silence is deafening around here".

BTW...

I LOVE the avitar you have!

I would love to find a clip of the "XETV -...Ole !" jingle or ID from those post ABC years.

NewsCenter Maine appears to be a Maine Corporation as the name appears in suit that they've filed against the (Maine) Department of Health & Human Services for access to files in an ongoing child abuse case.

Slight tweaks to the TEGNA websites: they have rearranged the "alerts" portion that show at the top of the page for breaking/weather/closing alerts.

Previously they were bannered and stacked; now they are columned across the top.

WFAA News Director Carolyn Mongo said to unclebarky that further makeovers are coming for WFAA.

The station is intent on seizing that momentum, Mungo says. “We will be finally getting a set refresh at Victory (Park) in mid-late April,” she tells staffers. “SO -- by May we will have a new ‘brand’ logo launch, a more robust marketing campaign, and a new set! I wanted to thank the entire team for the hard work. I may not see you often, but the morning show is the most important show we do. I huddle with Sheena (Daybreak executive producer Sheena Autin) every day. It is exciting to see our upward trend. There is no stopping us.”

Say goodbye to This Is Home and hello to C Clarity and Tegna-Set-In-A-Box. IMO, I wish they would get a better news theme with "The Spirit" signature.

And they’re getting a new logo. Which means say goodbye to this:

I hope to God it isn’t KGW’s logo.

I hope it isn't going to be one similar to KVUE's logo.

It probably will be.

It could be too.

All I know is that the WFAA logo look that we've all known will be no more. TEGNA likes to change it up.

Damn, TEGNA's changing logos like crazy. They should have left WWL's alone.

To be fair, what Belo did to WWL's logo for a few months post-Katrina was an abomination. This slight tweak imho is not so bad....

And speaking of Tegna changing up logos, why did they leave "ZZM's basically alone? I have often thought if they had adopted WKYC's "SlashSlant 3" and added a 1, that'd look good.

Who knows what WFAA will do, they could easily use the logo on their website for broadcast.

I noticed awhile ago they changed all the monitors in studio to the WFAA 8 logo, rather than the News 8 logo. With “WFAA Originals” and the whole “We are WFAA” campaign, they could be pushing the WFAA brand more these days.

I agree with your comment about Belo's abomination.
