Perhaps this should be a lesson to news departments around the world: Think twice about showing that new viral video. Many news organizations (and the rest of the internet) learned that the hard way Monday night, when comedian Jimmy Kimmel revealed on his late night talk show that a

, which seemed to show a woman setting herself on fire following a disastrous attempt at "twerking", was faked and done by his show and a stuntwoman.

The original video, which racked up over 10 million views, was featured on CNN, MSNBC, various daytime talk shows, and local newscasts across the country and Canada. It was even featured on ABC's The View, which goes to show that not even the rest of the network was "in" on the joke.

In my mind, what makes it better is the fact that they made and posted the video like 3 months ago, but it went viral only after Miley Cyrus' VMA appearance. If that had never happened, it's likely the video wouldn't have ever gone viral.
