WPIX Newsroom and Studio set for major overhaul

Yeah I realized that was actually the wrong link, but I think that picture that I gave you was from WCBS FM? I don't know if WCBS 880 and WCBS FM share the same newsroom, but I know Mr. G works at WCBS FM, not WCBS 880.

Anyways, back on topic. I think this link should work (http://instagram.com/p/n832ZRLXEn/). If it doesn't then just scroll around their instagram page (http://instagram.com/pix11news) and find the picture with Mr. G standing next to the weather producer or whoever that is (Maybe the infamous Andrew Cruise he always mentions on air?) Anyway, you can see the construction being done in the back of the photo.

Actually that's the weather center in the back of the studio. That's near the newsroom but not the actual news room.

What ever happened to their old set? You know the one prior to 2009/2010? WB11/CW11 days:

It was redone to look like this:
(video credit to nynewswatch)

Then it was "modernized" to have a hip CW feel:

(video credit to fxdesigngroup). With a few minor changes, the current set looks almost exactly the same.

That would a perfect studio. Just put a little 11 logo on the side of the desk and it's much better.

I think if you also throw in some elements of the last studio (vertical screens, stand-up desks, and another group of TV for a stand-up shot)

and it just might be the second best studio on New York TV, behind (to me) WCBS.

I tweeted Jerry Barmash earlier about the studio situation. He replied saying that he's heard rumors but money has been an issue. I guess it's the same thing with the 11AM and weekend morning newscasts. I guess they have to get viewers first in order to get the money.

From today's TVNewsCheck article...

WPIX News Director Mark Effron just announced that he is leaving. Does his departure affect your plans?

Mark did a great job and now we now we want someone to come in and move the product forward. We are in midst of an active search to find somebody who is going to be the right leader for WPIX. We are making some other changes, too. In 2015 we will also have a new studio and a new set.

Just gonna run that one through the PRSpeak Translator... Ah yes, here we go.

"Mark didn't do anything to get us out of the hole we're in, so now we have to start all over."
