Weeters 1683
Months of hard work and planning are about to pay off for three of Nexstar's Tennessee stations. In the coming days, WPTY and WLMT in Memphis and WJKT in Jackson will move into new state of the art facilities and debut a complete overhaul of their on-air looks - up to and including call letters. WPTY will change it's calls to WATN and rebrand as "Local 24", with all three stations debuting a new graphics package and a rehabbed FX Group set acquired from Little Rock, Arkansas' KLRT when that station merged with KARK late last year. The move also brings about a interesting technical change: a move away from automation. TVNewsCheck.com reports that, while the station's current facility uses a Ross Overdrive automation system, the new facility will utilize a more traditional control room with a technical director, producer, graphics operator, prompter operator, and audio operator.
