Craig Allen is filling in tonight on News 12 Hudson Valley.. not sure if he was picked up by Altice but pretty cool if that’s the case

Its assumed he's just covering.

PIX just hired a new Sports Anchor named Justin Walters from the "now-defuncted" FiOS 1. It's assumed that he's most likely Scott Stanford's successor during tge week since Andy Adler is most likely on the weekends

He was just covering and he said that. But he’s no longer with PIX so he may very well freelance across News12

PIX is officially going back to Nexstar, for all intents and purposes:

Quote

E.W. Scripps said today that it has been informed that Nexstar Media Group Inc. has transferred its option to purchase Scripps’ New York CW affiliate WPIX to Mission Broadcasting and that Mission has exercised its option to purchase the station.

The option price is $75 million plus accrued interest, to be calculated on the period between the Sept. 19, 2019, purchase date of WPIX by Scripps and the option sale closing date.

Scripps seems to be doing a lot of selling of late, between this and their podcasts. And while most would concede this was probably the end game for Scripps and Nexstar/Mission, $75M still seems abnormally low for a station in the top media market.

What a sad day here in NY.  And using a sidecar to skirt FCC regulations yet be controlled by Nexstar is total BS.  Hopefully if a change in control happens in November, this may get caught with new appointees to the FCC.

I don't necessarily see a Biden FCC being something that puts in new regulations and stops the endgame of consolidation. Do you remember what happened the last time a Democratic president was in charge of the executive branch? Nexstar went from being a company with nothing in the Top 50 markets to being in Top 10 markets and Sinclair tripled in size.

if anything regardless of party I see a greater reversal, especially if you end up with certain companies stuck in a catch-22 where they are too big to acquire yet too complicated to break up without causing a bigger mess (see Hearst, Meredith, Coxpollo). I'm certain Nexstar is trying to come up with some plan to enter Atlanta and Boston by some means necessary, especially with both a gaping hole in their networks and markets Tribune foolishly walked away from.

This also means the end of WPIX’s reporters being featured on Newsy’s programming (Newsy is owned by Scripps). But, this also opens the door for the station’s reporters to appear on News Nation on WGN America (it’s not likely they would appear on the program until after the sale of WPIX to Mission goes through, however)...

nexstar only runs Sales agreements  for PIX (Mission brdcst) - pix11 reporters won't be seen on News Nation or anything Nexstar - that would be in violation of national reach status. Pix11 viewership is dismal and the key Demo is non-existent. Nexstar would have to sell off many stations and repurchase pix11 from Mission way down the line. Broadcasting is losing steam from cord cutting as well as streaming etc. Pix11 is a huge liability right now and a bigger risk in the future. Pix11 will hurt big time w/o Yankees & Mets and smaller markets without sports teams are a better investment.

I don’t know why there seems to be surprise or mystery surrounding this “ownership change”. This was the plan from the beginning of the Tribune sale, and it was no secret. Because of the number of stations involved, Nexstar needed to divest WPIX (and others) to get FCC approval; but they didn’t want to lose it forever. That’s why the WPIX sale price at the time was pretty cheap, and why it included the buy-back option.   If you go back and read the articles and analysis of the Tribune sale, this was widely expected and predicted. Some thought it would be when ownership rules were relaxed. Others thought it would be when Nexstar finished rearranging its financial labyrinth. Either way, it was always part of the plan. Only a political or economic apocalypse would stop it. Doing it through an ownership sidecar might not have been the original endgame, but it is neither unique nor unprecedented This was never a question of “if” Nexstar would re-acquire WPIX, but “when”.

it truly is too bad that WPIX is leaving Scripps. But this was always a “rent, don’t buy” arrangement.

Aww, the best part was that I was able to watch live and rebroadcasts of PIX news via Roku from San Diego. It's a pity Nextstar and Tegna stations do not embrace Roku as a streaming platform, that's where their audience is heading; even indie KUSI can be seen on Roku now.

Interesting.. I’m gonna assume here that either Kori picks up the 6 and then him and Tamsen do all 3 shows... or... one of the evening shows get a new team..

Perhaps Kala is going to WNBC to fill the 11a & 5p spot vacated by Stacey Bell.

Either Breaking news anchor during the AM or 6PM news or simply out on the field reporting..

I personally don't think that WNBC is ready to fill that slot as of yet... Still too early to tell on that. Stacey only left a few months ago.

Newsrooms are cleaning up shop in other places. Not in NYC as of yet.

Insert Treadway & Rama at 6PM...  That's if PIX management wants to go that route.

It’ll take a while for David Ushery to get a new co-anchor. Had a feeling Gilma Avalos would do it but she remains to anchor during the weekends.  Hope they don’t drop Kala out of the morning news on the other hand,
