They are using the newsroom for the 6am newscast and the audio of the anchors is very distorted.

There's also a delay when they go from the anchors to Amy doing the forecast where you don't her Amy for a few seconds..

Marcus Solis' piece on the heat today talking about the 1977 blackout on July 13-14. Larry Kane was shown broadcasting that day (one of the 70s pieces on YouTube.)

For those who want the 1977 version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=zvcHtJK3Dhg;t=1

What a hoot!

In the open we see Spencer "Adjusting" his mic...shuffles papers...and looks to the anchor to acknowledge that he is ready...

3,2,1

Launch!!!

One little thing..

Ya see Spencer had been sitting down for the last 5 minutes or more...primping...getting pretty...so there was no rush. His scripts were already in the prompter...

And that mic???

Well an "honest to God NABET union audio dude" had that mic affixed to Spencer minutes ago...the mic check was done, and there is no need to "adjust" that mic. In fact Spencer isn't really even supposed to touch that mic unless unless it burst into flames and eats him. Those are the union rules.

Those late 60's early 1970's EWN opens were great..totally scripted opens.

For a while the anchors used to make it look like they were just so hurried that they could barely make it to the set in time for the open, but that became risky as the talent was already hardwired to the set with dual lav mics and some primitive IFB's

So they could only "run" so far.

It was truly fun and fascinating to watch this broadcast. I have to confess that there were moments when I thought, "why is the quality of this newscast so much better than what we get NOW with better technology?"

Those guys had fun doing it. It wasn't hokey...it was "flash"...

Most of all...it was a good honest newscast.

Per a Facebook post, Danielle Leigh who most recently was at King 5 in Seattle is joining ABC 7 as an investigative reporter for "7 on your side" she starts in August.

Damn, that's a big jump for Leigh. Kudos.

But how many investigative reporters do they need? Is Jim or Nina leaving or being reassigned?
