Being out a week or two does not mean he left the station.

Did anyone say or ask if he left the station? The question was if anyone knew.. plenty of people take more than a week for vacation but living in a pandemic being out over a week could mean something else too. He usually posts on SM too and has not. That’s why I ask.

What's with everyone here asking if Sam Champion has left the station or on vacation. Last I checked meteorologists are allowed to take vacations.  12 days without a phone and being on social media is good for someone like Sam.  We all need to remember that social media does not consume our lives. At the end of the day we all have lives to live. Social Media is a gift and a curse.  All of this to say is Sam will return back to the studio once his vacation is done.

All these questions make it seem that way. Can’t he take a vacation without people wondering what happened to him?

No one ever said he left the station, you did in your reply here.

They only asked if he was on air during that week, in which another replied he's probably on vacation.

There’s no need to be snarky.

There's also no reason for you to postulate or extrapolate on what one person's question of a vacation to the assumption that they left the station.

You did the same thing in the NBC thread about David Ushery, saying he left because you hadn't seen him for a few weeks on air nor on social media. Then he was back on air, after taking a vacation in August, gasp!

Can y'all just stop!  This happens every year when staff take vacation.  They are entitled to vacation.  And for many with years of experience and high compensation, they get a lot of it.  When an anchor is missing they may be sick, may be on vacation or took a personal day for whatever reason.  We don't need 20 posts speculating they are gone or whatever. It is too often on WABC, and as was mentioned it spilled over to WNBC as well.   If someone leaves a station, you all find out anyhow.  No need to speculate.  Back to the topics.

I’m owed an apology by paradox!

So, this is slightly off-topic, but still related to the news broadcasts. Does anyone here who watches them streamed (or is familiar with them) know why they don't show some commercials and instead put up the "We'll be right back" graphic? It only seems to happen during local news broadcasts. I'm guessing that they are trying to sell advertising slots to reach streaming customers, but can't understand why they wouldn't just show what's on the broadcast if they do not have something else to show.  All other WABC programming, including the network news, shows the normal commercials (or seems to, at least it doesn't put up a graphic instead of a commercial)

If he likes original NewsNation boss Jennifer Lyons, as she assembled the first team, I wouldn't rule him out of joining WBBM in Chicago, where she just took over. Ultimately, it depends on how deep of roots he planted here...in a year.

Wonder where he’ll wind up? Maybe Good Day NY? Lol

He's not coming back to NYC market. Don't wish on it.  Although, he is from the tri-state area and has deep roots at ABC News and WABC-TV. I personally don't see him returning back to NYC.  WNYW right now has a high turnover and that situation wouldn't be good for Nelson.

I'm glad the O&O's are pulling from the "oversized" standard the network is pushing.

Good because this new logo is a massive step backwards graphically. WABC in general has been the lesser of the big 3 stations graphics and studio wise, none the less they’re still on top!
