WABC - 7 Eyewitness News

Wow. Either she's just filling in or perhaps Sandra is getting mornings ans Shrileen is getting weekends and maybe Diana's Williams is getting noon. Diana I don't think wanted that in 2015 due to her husbands health at the time.

Nobody is getting anything yet. It's literally been less than two weeks since anyone inside and outside WABC knew Lori was leaving. Testing will go on for weeks and most of what you're seeing now is long-planned substitutions for the late August vacations that are squeezed in before the fall season starts.

Another idea is to move the weekend evening team to weekday mornings and the weekend morning team to weekend evenings since they seem to like to keep teams together.

Joe and Sandra are great anchors but definetly not morning people. If they were going to do that they'd move Rob and Michelle to weekdays. As someone said testing will go on with Ken for weeks to come.

Nope. Lara is with the network for GMA and has a side deal with HGTV hosting and producing shows. Sam was with the The Weather Channel until leaving at the end of 2016.

Then that's why it's unlikely. You have to hire them both first.

Noticed that too. However, both Michelle and Sandra were off this weekend so it's likely vacation playing a factor. I really don't see Toni as a lead morning anchor though. We could also see someone completely unexpected to replace Lori. Remember when Steve was fired no one expected Ken to get the spot. Weren't the top contenders originally Phil Lipof, Jeff Rossen and Joe Torres?

You are right about the original contenders for Steve's spot. In fact, I remember reading comments from Jeff Rosen saying that not getting that gig contributed to his decision to leave the station.

Josh Einiger is down in Houston to help KTRK with their coverage.

Yeah that was interesting to see them down there apparently there are a lot of reporters from different ABC O&O stations lending KTRK a hand. That was nice to see.

Saw that, too. It's also been posted to abc7ny.com for a while now. Wonder which outside candidates they will do internal testing with. When Steve Bartelstein was fired, they tested Lori with Don Dahler who was with the network at the time.

Yes, that too.

This can also back fire like it did at a station I worked at. The weekend anchor was basically poised for an evening position for 4 and 6 but the station found someone else that they liked better. This caused a lot of animosity towards the anchor and station and when she left, she dissed the station in an interview at her new station. That's why nothing is set in stone.

(P.S.: I'm not going to give any personal information on the anchor and station for personal reasons)

Amy Freeze has been part of the ABC News network coverage of Irma for a large part of today.

NBC has been using Dave Price (during the week he was on MSNBC as well, often shuttling between the two studios). MSNBC has had Rafael Miranda. Basically, with the magnitude of this storm, and covering from different parts of Florida and NY, it has been all hands on deck. Remember, at the end of the day, WABC staff are ABC/Disney employees, WNBC are NBC employees etc.
