NBC's Dallas O&O KXAS rolled out a new on-air look on Saturday. The new look appears to be a cross between the KNSD package that debuted earlier this year, the

that is believed to be designed by NBC Artworks, and the leaked Artworks package for KNTV.

Along with the graphics updates, some set upgrades were made that had the station broadcasting in the newsroom on Saturday. A post on the station's Facebook page by someone claiming to be with the group that did the work says they spent 16 hours on-set making the changes.

I like the new stuff. If Scripps decides to let their stations do their own thing again, then KJRH would look great with these graphics. I also noticed that the new music is 360 Music's "360" with the NBC chimes.

I actually like the set.

It's a back to basics approach that emphasizes two things: what station you're watching (that big '5') and the talent (those softer skyline backdrops will let the talent pop on screen more). The wood and backlit '5' add nice warmth and authority. Feels like the new sheriffs in town are taking a page out of the mid 90s NBC playbook that went back to the red line lower thirds and basic sets.

The static graphics are very clear and easy to read, haven't seen any animations but what I see above here may lack dimension.
