Fox Chicago's recorded studio interviews in SD

I'm watching Fox Chicago simply because it's the only news on after the MLB All-Star game, and I couldn't help but notice that they're airing Bob Sirott's in-studio interview with Steve Stone in 16:9 SD. Is this a common practice for Fox Chicago? If so, are they seriously not willing to use up the storage required to record the segment in HD? That's pretty terrible.

All of their recorded video (in-studio or not) is like that, for whatever stupid reason. Yes, it looks like crap...but it serves as an exceptional metaphor for the station as a whole!

KSAZ at least has a good deal of widescreen SD live reports. They were last in Phoenix to go HD, too.

It's annoying to hear "in HD" at every turn, at their talent opens, etc. I think we can drop that now.
