1. Gannett stations are rolling out a new website design: See the test market at WBIR: http://www.wbir.com
2. Just went to the WBIR studio yesterday for a shadow with their chief meteorologist, Todd Howell, and a couple of engineers were telling me that they are working on a new set which should debut in a couple of months. They are making 2 giant rooms into one big set. The new weather center will take up a lot of space and the green screen or "Weather Wall" will be much bigger and will go all the way from the ceiling, continuing onto the ground. They have not said anything about it on TV or online, but I do know that they are going to put in the studio in the nexts couple of months. Couldn't get a photo of what they were working on, but here's a photo of their current studio which was finished around 2011 or so. (The background of the news desk was updated around 2018. It used to be more blue, now it's purple) Stay tuned.
3. I just searched "Tegna" on Vimeo and suddenly found this. Will it be the Tegna station's new graphic? EDIT: It's just a "pitch."
4. Macon's leading news station which is next door to a Waffle House, has debuted their new studio at 5pm today....and it's a TEGNA set-in-a-can. Video: https://www.13wmaz.com/video/news/tour-of-13wmazs-new-studio-set/93-63e69caf-4cc0-45ca-bfd1-a91575d39bb2
5. Oh boy..... http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-bz-sinclair-anti-trust-lawsuit-20180801-story.html I don't know why it was filed in Illinois, but Sinclair and Nexstar are (or were) owners whose stations carried their ads (most likely WPMI and WKRG) The other groups seem out of place, but they all own (or will soon own) stations in nearby New Orleans...
6. It looks like the KFMB stations / TEGNA are going on a [intern] hiring spree.. https://www.jobs.net/jobs/tegna/en-us/search/?location=san diego
7. I will say this first. I been keeping this under my wraps and monitoring the on air changes til it was official. In the past few weeks they have been slowly taking the current set apart. I came across the morning anchor John Anderson IG feed today and noticed a picture was posted. 1st pic is from Dec 28th. The upstairs set is still intacted. 2nd pic is from Jan 5th. Upstairs is gone expect the frames. And floor is cut. 3rd is wide shot of the set and studio.
8. HLN's attempt at it bombed. Tegna's attempts are somehow still alive even after massive backlash. So now I must ask, is there any social-media focused newscast on TV that doesn't reek of corporate consulting?
