  1. No wonder why they must've been delayed so many times since announcing their return to news. They wanted everything right and they didn't launch until the full quality was perfect. Take it like a company that was releasing a new product. You see something wrong with one of the new features. Do you release that product with the flaw, or just delay it until you fix it? A quality company would delay it, and that's the case with CBS News Detroit. By the way...you don't see many companies doing that nowadays
  2. The fact that we can only have a hearing about Newsmax leaving DIRECTV, but not do one for all the local stations and cable channels that can be dropped as well, and stop it from happening, shows how full political bias can be as well as supporting favoritism. https://thehill.com/homenews/media/3841353-mccarthy-wont-rule-out-hearings-on-directv-dropping-newsmax/
  3. Well, the black and gold remains. Congrats to y'all black and gold fans.
  4. I'll tell you one thing about Nate Burleson. Paramount is really using him good in this synergy. Maybe because he's very talented, or maybe because there's something else I don't know about. Expect him to host Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards this year. Nate Burleson & Charli D’Amelio To Host Kids‘ Choice Awards – Deadline
  5. As I am sure everyone knows, I for one welcome this new era. WBZ, when I tune to you, I better hear CBS News Boston being announced. Okay...maybe they'll stick with WBZ News. But you know, you never know. But I understand that not everyone here is welcomed to this change. The call letters, the number, the font of it on the logo, it's iconic. And when you see it gone, for some, it's like a sad thing. It's like losing a nice painting you had in your house for years. So, I feel for you guys that may not like it.
  6. I assume it's because of "The Desk" segments or the KCAL News branding?
  7. Oh yes. Sign up to receive spam mails about gold and silver coins that we disguise as a petition.
  8. Goodbye lovebirds. Can't wait to see a documentary, or a movie based on this in the next few years.
  9. Professional ultra crybabies.
  10. One day, when names and logos are permanent channel numbers replacements, the world will be a less cluttered place.
  11. Now that's nostalgic right there, with the information graphics. Feels like the old OTA NBC Weather Plus, or the News12 NY Weather and Traffic channels. Hope they keep it there, especially for streaming.
  12. 100% true. Not only that, but they spent too much money. Burnt it all the way through, with projects including what I mentioned, thinking they're gonna be like CNN.
  13. That reminds me of the Black News Channel. They did something similar, and offered BNC GO. One hour of live news and repeats of it. We all know how that turned out. OAN does it too. But...they don't even have cable services on their back. So, they might as well stay live, all the time. Meanwhile, as for this nonsense campaign that Newsmax is running, they claim to be an unbiased organization. They run promos saying that they have no agenda, no spin, no BS. Real news for real people. They even hired Greta Van Susteren and Kilmeny Duchardt, who used to work for TRT World and the AP maybe to try and disguise themselves as such....even though the host on the channel literally show off their bias, which is nothing wrong as you are admitting that you are a conservative channel. But this use of the political playbook against DIRECTV, claiming that they're "canceled," DIRECTV is woke to liberals, they're censored, DIRECTV will cancel you next, this complete meltdown shows that this weak attempt of even having a slight hint of unbiasness is a complete clown show and....they should be taken unseriously because of that. You can't be honest and say that we are off the air because of a carriage dispute and you should cancel DIRECTV because of this, just like any other company that go through something like this would? Or, at least promote your free stream to continue watching them (which you're gonna "censor" yourself out of in the next few months)? Complete joke.
  14. And now, the replacement for Newsmax on DIRECTV: The First. https://cordcuttersnews.com/directv-directv-stream-are-adding-a-new-conservative-news-network-the-first-to-their-lineup/ From The Streamable: First TV CEO Christopher Balfe said: “We now have a unique opportunity to broaden our reach without saddling DIRECTV and its customers with any added financial demands.” Throwing shade at the predecessor I see.
  15. Getting "canceled," even though they are literally viewable for free online. Meanwhile, they plan on getting rid of that in the next few months and stick to cable. Guess they'll be "canceled" again by then....caused by themselves.
  16. Oh boy. I'm already imagining what some people are gonna think. But it's nice that they're finally promoting the CBS News local brand a little...through a simple bug change.
  17. I mean, I'm pretty sure that the stations news ops. talked about what happened with the Washington Post murder. So imagine a few years later they promote the Saudi-funded golf games.....you would see a field day of people calling them out. So if they don't want to suffer the price of the affiliation motherlord's dark ambitions....this is the way to go.
  18. I am shocked that their app is not behind a cable paywall, or even a subscription for the shows nor the golf coverage. But I'm scared that may change.
  19. One more thing: I haven't seen an article from PIX on it, but look at this spin from another Nexstar station trying to justify it as a good thing.
  20. Ah, Tiffany's. No matter how much you get, they keep breaking. Must be bad luck.
  21. Just to provide perspective, Nexstar is not the only company to do this. Not sure if it's online but, based on my studies (streaming on TV), most NBC O&O local news channels on Peacock and Roku, and Hearst's Very Local channels run delayed newscasts as well. So Nexstar is not the first, but I hate the fact that this is a trend. The good news for NBC local streaming channels is that I've seen them go live for breaking news, and I believe that the NBC Boston news channel is live as well when simulcasting NECN. So hopefully Nexstar can still offer breaking news live. But still, not justifying this dumb move at all.
  22. Simple takeaway from this week: - KPIX showed us how to rebrand their newscasts the right way - KCAL showed us how to rebrand it in the most throwback, independent, weirdest way possible I mean, for those who worked with KCAL before moving to KCBS, this is a nostalgic moment for them. For the viewers and some here, it's either bad, or could've been better. For me: Well....good thing I don't live in California.
  23. I agree. Outside of news, there's no need for CBS News branding nor call letters. But the thing is that the reason why they may use the name of newscasts like you exemplified is for TV guide listings only. There's no way people are actually going to say long names like that.
  24. I mean, the News Organization brand is KCAL News. As I read in the article of the website I guess folks don't like saying, KCAL is a popular brand in the California region, according to CBS brand researchers studying viewership for the rebrand. I'm pretty sure the reason why CBS Los Angeles is in the bug is for when KCAL NEWS airs on the channel, formally known as CBS2 (KCBS). Personally, as I preached in the CBS O&O graphics topic, all stations should be streamlined with the CBS News brand, but it may not be the case for every station. Some may stick with the channel numbers, others may stick with the call letters. Definitely, that's the case with KCAL and their news operations in California.
