Yeah because even they have limits. She a full on white supremacist. They have to protect them advertisers for a network younger than OAN and survived on cable longer then they did tjere a major outlet now.

Having seen what they posted, I change my mind; it looks really good. Yes, it’s essentially the same corner set that most other Nexstar stations get, but this is one of the best executions of it. Maybe it’s the lighting, but they made that set look better than it does at other stations (see WFLA).

As I said before, my main gripe isn’t the new set itself; it’s the fact that in the process of building it, they wasted a perfectly good existing set that was only 3 years old. I would’ve put those resources somewhere else.

Yeah some tight shot but I can get used to it.

To that minority point, there were two organizations vying for TEGNA, both lead by minorities, Soo Kim and Byron Allen. If that's the argument that they are competing with then they are going to lose. On paper, Allen Media has a lot fewer legal questions, hurtles and backroom dealing than Standard does. For that alone, I would not approve the deal.

And that’s other thing the Black Caucus (which imo doesn’t really care about black people) wouldn’t

back Byron but did Soo Kim says a lot about them. Byron literally had the investors for Tegna. He briefly put it to the Broncos but ya know what happened. Also black caucus should’ve questioned whether he put more African American GM & NDs.

Here we go again the speculation 5000 on Channel 46 and CBS.  Nothing not happening and ANF is going to be just like Clear News here today gone tomorrow.  This is so stupid honestly.  The brand has been CBS46 and should of stayed CBS46 ANF could of come into play.  At this points CBS is moving to Channel 17- here you now go run with that. SMH

Ikr, we don’t know if CBS wants to do that  if @Myron Falwelladded me back on discord if shut them down.

Fox5 has not carried any hearings which is no surprise despite other Fox O&Os doing so. Just a confirmatory statement.  If Nexstar is serious about being in the news and network business, then I would expect them to allow their owned or operated stations to carry it.

I just said I think Nexstar have a service like “CW News Special Report” or “CW News Special Presentation” in the future. PIX probably wanted to retain revenue from ads. Sometimes PIX produces coverage locally of national stuff especially during the Tribune Days, but there in a period of transition. I know why FOX5 doesn’t carry it there a little biased in 2016 they didn’t show the democratic convention Hillary’s nomination speech. Which was during the 10pm news and went to 11:35 not sure about 2020. But I’ve seen them skip things.

And once again, both WNYW Fox 5 and WWOR My9 in DMA 1 are NOT carrying the hearing.  Nor is Nexstar, oops I mean Mission's PIX11.

Why would PIX carry it? Maybe Nexstar will start a Cut-in or news service for affiliates where they provide special reports for affiliates kinda like FOX does. Why would FOX 5 carry it either. FOX 5 kinda has a right-wing scant to it. Some of the stories and questions they have sound right-wing.

IIRC, when they started up CBSN Baltimore, The anchors would say something like “You’re watching Eyewitness News on WJZ TV and streaming on CBSN Baltimore online”.

Of course it could all have been in a dream…

    Jim

Maybe Philly will pick that up.

Capitol will just simulcast on WRAZ…they already simulcast the 4:30-7am, noon and the 4pm anyway. WRAZ could have WRAL’s news at 11 if the Tonight Show moves to 10:35 or 11 but if the Tonight Show doesn’t move up there’s no need to do that. I just can’t see that happening.

Ik I just said I don’t think FOx will mind mind since it’s affiliates know how to clap back at the network.

Okay it’s gonna good or bad for NBC. Ed Ansin WHDH owner is laughing from Heaven.

It will be interesting to see what happens in markets (there are quite a few) where a single newsroom produces a Fox affiliate 10pm news and an NBC 11pm.

Yeah I’ve been wondering WRAL here in does WRAZ newscast I don’t think FOX will mind since in some way affiliates push back at FOX a lot. FOX remember is only a network during prime time and sports. Outside of that affiliates do syndicates or news.

Searching through the CBS8 website the earliest filing on-air for Anna was April 6, 2022. Lately she has been filling in alot for Marcella & Carlo.

Hmm, she left KUSI quietly for CBS8. The former WTVD alumni. Hmm okay.

There's this article from when MyNetworkTV was two years into being a programming service, with this highlight from Nexstar CEO Perry Sook: "With MyNetworkTV, I get more inventory per hour than I would get from Fox or ABC, albeit at lower ratings."

Wow… he just admitted that he like to make or throw away money with that statement.

If affiliates are dropping it, then certainly not. I'm pleased that WBFS dropped it as it opens up more local programming spots.

I don’t know they only original program I remember was flavor flav but besides that there just prime time syndie Network. Ion Television does better.

What CBS is doing in Detroit is difficult enough; do they really want the burden of launching news in Seattle, Tampa, and Atlanta when they already have affiliates doing it for them? Besides, Nexstar might be interested in owning three standalone affiliates in top-20 markets.

Detroit is a different situation, because of CW and CBS situation. Seattle, Tampa, and Atlanta. Seattle and Tampa could be a nice gun to the head for Apollo for if anything implodes same thing with WTSP and Tegna, however both will have a hard time rebuilding news department bucares of there sorta indie status good for syndies. Atlanta is and has been a gun to the head for WGCL but they can’t do what there’re doing in the Detroit. Cause the rimshot viewership situation. So they bargain with Nexstar hey can we at least not pay affiliation fees.

Something I’ve been thinking the past few days: Keep Nightly News at 6:30, but add a 30 minute prime time newscast at 10:30 after local news at 10. If that is done, hopefully Nightly News isn’t rushed and more time can be given for different stories. Also, big breaking news event or just a major event of the day, push the Tonight Show back by 10, 15+ minutes. For the State Funeral of The Queen, BBC News at 10 was an hour long.

Telemundo did that in the 90s it was so successful it only lasted 11 months before reverting back. But no it did but NBC needs to keep in mind the FOX affiliates. Again simulcasting for stations that produce 10pm news on other stations well I guess it could work never mind.

I believe that most of us on this forum can see NBC moving Nightly News to 10/9c and formatting it similar to CBC's The National.

Than more news or Jimmy at 11pm but west coast editions go away then. I’m talking 6:30 there.

They already have one…WUPA…they just don’t have the affiliation on there. They have CW on there. Same in Seattle and Tampa. But I guess the CW would move to WPCH…because there’s no need for Gray to have two independents in that scenario. The other scenario would be for CBS to sell WUPA to Nexstar and keep CW on WUPA but the writing seems to be on the wall for WGCL, soon to be WANF,  to drop CBS with the branding changes. That and Nexstar might have to sell a station in another market for cap reasons if they bought WUPA

The could boost those CW affiliates up they still be like O&Os but better there CW and there a lot more time. Plus they have existing news infrastructure. So I’m saying they can treat them like O&Os of CBS.

This is Lori's last and final week on air. Still quite stunning that she is effectively done with Broadcast Journalism. It will be nice to see what kind of tribute will be given to her. I personally will miss her dearly, she really is a class act, honestly I always felt that WABC was the place for Lori she just was a better fit for that station but nonetheless at least she spread her wings a bit and tried something new at WNYW with Good Day New York and Rosanna and of course her ultimate wish, anchoring the primetime 6pm newscast which she achieved. I'm truly happy for Lori she deserves a beautiful retirement especially after all of the hardwork and dedication she has put for all the years she's been on TV. What a career! Good for her she will be missed dearly!

WABC she’s still be there if it weren’t for bad competence of Camille Edwards and upper management.

Eh. Lets see the ratings in a year. I dont doubt the new investment and money being spent is nice. But how many times has a station (including this one) gotten excited and said “its a new day!” “This time its gonna work”! Stations have time and time again rebranded, promising to focus on news that “matters” etc and it flops.

It’s funny many of y’all were saying oh this is gonna put a dent in the ratings or perhaps dethrone WXIA from its #3 spot. Now you see the unveiling everything hits rock bottom. But I remain optimistic do I believe I’ll dethrone 2 or 5 no. But it has a great chance on dethroning 11 Alive. And Tenga trash. Also ANF the call letters haven’t been change yet maybe they’ll have a secondary WANF 46 on non news programming once the call letters change goes through.

Former tv news director and executive Al Primo, credited with creating the Eyewitness News format for Group W in Cleveland and Philadelphia, and then perfecting it at ABC in New York, has passed at age 87.

Here's the story from WABC-TV, where Primo served as ND and where his creation attained perhaps its greatest success.

(Note [9:52 PM ET]: the story contains a incorrect reference to Stu Nahan and Bill Bonds launching Eyewitness News in NYC in '69, which they did–but in LA. I've already reported this to WABC-TV and hopefully, they'll dig deeper into their own history and make the necessary corrections rather than cut-and-paste from another source.)

(EDIT [12:35 AM ET, 9/30]: Said corrections have been made.)

It would be Al rolling in his grave if KYW dumps Eyewitness News at least CBS let them keep the it and incorporated in to it.  “CBS Eyewitness News Philadelphia” or at least have reporters announce it at the end of live shots. This is so sad and it’s an blasphemy station are dumping it. Especially legendary Fox stations FOX5 Atlanta or Fox 2 Detroit. Since it started at CBS. And perfected in ABC.

Credit to @CaptainNewsfor flagging it on the Discord: WBBM is airing a promo celebrating Brad Edwards' 10th anniversary at the station that features the "CBS News Chicago" branding with "WBBM" in a black box, similar to what the Group W converts and WCCO have.

Yeah I’m not in the discord because of well you know like you do you have any evidence?
