  1. KING 5 News at 11 clip, 1/9/1990, with Don Porter KIMA 5/2/89 11pm Newsbeat - this was on the old VHSgoodies channel before it went down for good. Nearly 3 years already, wow
  2. KNDO 9/21/1988, NewsCenter during the Olympics PS - Those KIRO clips from the 1970s are amazing!! There's tons of JP Patches clips on that YT channel too!
  3. Are you sure that's not KIMA or KEPR? That's the *exact* same news set!!! Without our British anchor or Mike McCabe's silly suits, that is. I do remember Rachelle Murcia from her days at KOMO's morning news.
  4. Yes! Jason Valentine left KVE...I meant, 'Apple Valley News Now' to take a job in Franklin County government...he is the new government affairs coordinator. Franklin County consists of Pasco and other smaller towns to the north. https://www.nbcrightnow.com/tricities/new-government-affairs-coordinator-in-franklin-county/video_fd7eb3a0-aab7-11ee-a9df-978d45c93036.html Austin is up here now. He's not too bad so far! We spend more time watching KIMA local news...still going strong with our British anchor, John Kennedy O'Connor but I do catch ch 35 news here and there.
  5. See how long it's been since I've watched Spokane news? I know KPAX (Scripps/CBS) in Missoula does the ticker and WX forecast/stocks at the bottom of the screen. Maybe I was confusing KXLY with KPAX.
  6. Three things will always resonate with a Sunday morning: church & worship, NFL football...and Charles Osgood. His friendly personality, signature bow tie, and interesting segments made a Sunday morning on CBS worthwhile...especially with a cup of coffee. He will forever be missed, say hi to the other Charles (Kuralt) up there, still probably 'on the road' (if there are highways and backroads up in Heaven), and of course, Walter. RIP!
  7. KAPP/KV...I meant APPLE VALLEY News Now, finally added time and temperature to the bottom of that little logo box. No ticker like KXLY.
  8. I'm not upset that the video was posted...I appreciate it! I've got more coming in the next few weeks as I have time. This includes, hopefully, the oldest newscast clip I have found - more than 4 months older than my previous record.
  9. I've got tons of footage from Northridge, it's all national/syndicated shows, like Inside Edition and American Journal. I've already posted it all, to my knowledge. That KPDX newscast is from my collection, but I have been SO busy (subbing, gig deliveries, even freelance TV work) that new content just hasn't been uploaded. I've got several tapes ready to go whenever I have the extra time.
  10. KAPP/KV...I meant, "APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW," in Central Washington, doesn't have any rolling news on the bottom, or sponsorship logos. I think KXLY does. The logo is on the right of the screen in a box. I'll be traveling back to Montana later this year so I'll check out KXLY's newscasts on the way there.
  11. Early KDNL 'News 30 Now' clip from 1995 that I just found.
  12. Merry Christmas!! A new KAPP find from Christmas night 1997, with Lucinda Kay. And for good measure, the Nightline that followed. Enjoy some music from the Harlem Boys Choir. They sing three Christmas songs on this broadcast.
  13. WSYM FOX 47 news clip circa 1998 or 1999 And a WMAQ news clip from 2002 on the O'Hare Airport expansion
  14. Wow - that logo hasn't changed since the late 1990s. The font has changed to reflect the rest of the NBC platform, it seems. These graphics are what I remember as a kid...the 3-D arrows and the little Dow/NASDAQ/S&P on the side:
  15. The oldest Yakima sign-off I've ever found! Hugh Davis is the voiceover, he founded Columbia Empire Broadcasting in the late '50s (and likewise, KNDO/KNDU).
  16. This is why I avoid posting most newscasts from 2010 and later. Besides, why should I? I collect *VHS and Betamax*, not DVR recordings... On the other hand, videos will be coming slowly but surely to the AVTB account. There is now a 10-video limit per day, then it forces the account to verify with a QR code or picture or some random thing. I guess the site thinks we're spamming it or something...
  17. Liz Burch (KOIN) moves east to the Columbia Basin...KNDU that is. Former reporter/anchor at the Portland CBS station. https://www.nbcrightnow.com/news/liz-burch-joins-nonstop-local/article_c3c4feea-8d5b-11ee-96eb-5fd810677459.html
  18. CBS Late Night commercials, classic PSAs included, and KIMA leaves the air in August 1987. Yes, Johnny Carson on *CBS* doing an AIDS PSA, too.
  19. I think I'm slightly younger than you...replace Harry on KIRO with his son Andy, Tony with Gaard Swanson, and Susan with Kristy Lee + Margo Myers. But somewhere I do have a baby picture where I point to Harry doing a WX report on the TV Anyways, the thing I will remember most about Steve Pool is his friendly presence on TV. When KOMO started doing 4:00 news (with Mary Nam), Steve and Mary would try to guess the answer to the "question of the day"...usually a survey question. Often they would both get stumped. But it often involved chuckles and quips. Then he did his weather report just like a professional. Steve reminded us when to pull out the umbrella, when to expect school closures (i.e., if Seattle was getting an inch of snow or for heaven's sake, MORE), and when to pull out the sunscreen and go out to the beach, those 85 to 90 degree summer days. KOMO was like his second home. He interned there while he was a student at UW in the mid-1970s. KOMO gave him the job in 1977 (sports/reporting), and he became chief meteorologist in 1984. One of those cases where a news personality didn't have to work his way up from little Bozeman or Parkersburg, up to mid-size, and finally to major-market...he stayed in Seattle, at KOMO, for his entire career, besides those 70+ times where he filled in for Spencer Christian on GMA because he was just THAT good at his job. Don't forget to say hi to Ken Schram for us, Steve. I hope the weather is a perfect 75 and sunny up in Heaven.
  20. A shocker. RIP Steve. You will be forever missed. Grew up with him, Dan Lewis, Kathi Goertzen
  21. Jack Williams is off and Chris Conangla fills in with Liz Walker on WBZ Eyewitness News Nightcast, March 28th, 1986. Would you believe I found this newscast right here in Yakima? 2400 miles from Boston? And a strange title for a late newscast: KAPP Local News "Only at 11", 11/7/2003
  22. More goodies being posted. In fact, these are some pretty old ones... KIMA 8/29/85 NewsBeat at 11. Heidi Tauber (now deceased) has the desk to herself, no Ken Crockett. A pre-recorded weather blurb from Stu Seibel and NO sports anchor. "And You" theme, of course. And Susan Hutchison has the desk to herself as KIRO covers the devastation of Hurricane Andrew, on August 24th, 1992...and yes, that's Steve Raible at the *sports desk*. I've always known him from KIRO as the lead news anchor! It does help that not only is he the fantastic Seahawks radio announcer to this day but also that he had experience as a WR for the Seahawks And a snippet with more to come. The last seconds of KREM news and a plethora of commercials from a broadcast of 'Chisum' taped *11/24/1979*!! This isn't all...there's some KREM GEMS I have found from this latest estate sale in Ellensburg, that break personal records for oldest tapes found! Stay tuned! Ah, I'll add one more. 1985 late night breaks from KIRO, including multiple Eyewitness News promos. One with a jingle, and another with Gary Justice promoting the 6:30 news
  23. A few old VHSgoodies clips reuploaded...and one new one. KNDO 10/4/88, ABC World News Sunday 11/9/97, a KCPQ news open from 1999, and a partial KIMA NewsBeat from June 1992
  24. I recently saw that! The young dubber would be at the station during their off-air time (roughly 1-6AM weeknights). He would dub all the tapes that needed to be loaded the next day for KIMA's broadcast day.
  25. Correct...I can't find any other station that used that news package post-1989. KEPR may have also used it, but I'm not sure. KIMA would switch to new graphics and a new music package in 1990.
