  1. Same folks who tell stations to brand every fire/crash/disturbance as Breaking News. Can move this thought to speculation or breakroom to keep some people happy, but when's the last time a consultant had an original idea?
  2. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery? Whats next? KCNC gets a clone of Lisa Hidalgo?
  3. I don't know nearly as much about the Pitt market as you do, but it seems similar enough to the point where corporate mandates often get bucked... And as long as they have the ratings to back up noncompliance, CBS would be dumb to make them fall in line. Although for WCCO, I never understood why they dumped "4 Warn Storm Team", it was a good play on the channel number (and an answer to KSTP's "SkyMax5")
  4. I have a hard time seeing WCCO adopting this. They've been "WCCO Weather" since 2005-ish. and overall, the Minneapolis-St. Paul market has avoided these kind of brandings. KSTP is "Minnesota's Weather Authority" but everyone else is *station name* weather. No one even takes the WeatherRate bait.
  5. Usually good faith exceptions are made for someone to appear on another network for a milestone. Barbara was at the 60-year special while she was still at ABC
  6. At least a third Trump run would statistically help CNN's ratings (looking historically)
  7. I'll take "Things unlikely to happen anytime soon" for... $600 please Ken, I mean Mayim? Who's hosting this week?
  8. What were you hoping for? NBCSN shutting down is kind of like a Kmart going out of business sale- Didn't have the money, inventory, or power to take down the top competition so it just fades into history
  9. Lisa Budeau, who was a longtime anchor at KVLY until being dismissed last fall, has landed across town at WDAY. They're adding her as a third anchor in the same time slot she hosted at Valley News Live (5-7AM). (VNL ironically still hasn't found a replacement for Budeau since she left running with just one anchor) https://www.inforum.com/news/local/longtime-local-anchor-lisa-budeau-joins-wdays-first-news-morning-show
  10. I rotate between WDAY and VNL reasonably regularly. Don't worry.
  11. They still simulcast mornings as "Valley News Live". I suffer through it most mornings.
  12. Not sure if this is a Gray or CBS issue- but would someone tell KBJR (Duluth) to stop running the generic promo with Gayle King for "CBS This Morning" (old name, studio, graphics, plus it has Anthony Mason still as the co-host!)? That said, you wonder why the ratings still suck... The affiliates don't even market the correct show (and another tangent, KVLY to this day says "CBS This Morning starts next)
  13. Wouldn't that mean some surgery to the scheduling if CBS gets it? Are the 4:00 newscasts 30 minutes or an hour? I think about WCCO- They've had Wheel at 6:30 forever, while KARE has had Jeopardy... Not sure where WCCO would fit Jeopardy if CBS O&O's won the rights (Ellen currently at 4:00)

  15. It's all about the political ad money- and its not just CBS that's guilty of it... FOX has dumped more newscasts on the MyNet stations they have the duopoly on, Gray does it where and when it makes even a little sense, the list goes on... Oddly, kind of fitting for a CW station. Especially the Seven-Day. Would be easier if they'd just use the current CBS O&O package though.
  16. With respect, heavy emphasis on the "might".
  17. Living in the market, it was only a matter of time, and sorry that I don't keep up on the Speculatron as much as I should... My pipe theory was that it would be Nexstar (who has CBS for the state outside of Fargo) who would then do an affiliation swap to get CBS from Gray (Who has Fox for ND outside of Fargo). It is unfortunate that there will only be two broadcast TV Voices in the market going forward, but in their presser, local ownership was a driving factor... Which can be appreciated, right?
  18. Forum Communications (Fargo, owns all the ABC Stations in North Dakota) has purchased KVRR-TV (Fox Fargo) and KQDS-TV (Fox Duluth, MN). Effectively makes Fargo a 2 newsroom operation between Gray (NBC/CBS) and Forum (ABC/Fox) https://kfgo.com/2021/11/30/464590/
  19. Lisa Budeau is out as long-time Morning Anchor at KVLY. https://www.inforum.com/entertainment/television/7286448-McFeely-Lisa-Budeau-gone-from-Valley-News-Live-as-hits-keep-on-coming Disclaimer for the link- the Fargo Forum owners also own KVLY's main competitor, WDAY-TV.
  20. I'm curious to why the Gray logo has to be on the front of the desk? KOTA/KEVN have been adding it to their weather graphics as well (and not doing it well).
  21. Gray has begun converting the websites of the former Quincy properties. https://www.kbjr6.com/ https://www.cbs3duluth.com/ https://www.fortwaynesnbc.com/ https://www.wpta21.com/ https://www.week.com/ https://www.hoiabc.com/ They have a few to go.
  22. Say what you want about how overused packages are, I'm just proud that with Gray combining brandings in the Dakotas ("Dakota News Now" at KSFY/KDLT, "Valley News Live" at KVLY/KXJB, "Your News Leader" at the KFYR/KMOT...) that they've kept two separate identities this long in a small market like Rapid City.
  23. The four-anchor format was interesting to try mid-week, but they seemed to have good chemistry. The question the bosses need to be asking- When you've replaced everything but Gayle, might it be time to try replacing Gayle? Nothing against her and I'm sure shes a great person, I'm just pointing out that they have changed every other co-host, Moved the studio, re-branded the show and she has remained the only constant. Then again, my argument for CBSEN echoes here... Someone has to be in third place. As long as the show makes money and sales isn't having issues selling it, then what's the point of another change?
  24. Unless sales is having trouble selling enough to make it profitable? If Norah is so bad that the network is losing money, that might force their hand. Third place yet profitable shouldn't be an issue- Someone's gotta keep the bench warm
  25. Please no. At least not every CBS affiliate. Major and Large markets sure... But please don't let the small markets into this mess.
